Role Description

TradeTrust is a B2B textile marketplace helping manufacturers and suppliers sell digitally and helping buyers source with confidence. Our next stage of growth depends on making the platform work smoothly alongside the inventory, accounting, warehouse, and logistics workflows businesses already use. As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you will work at the intersection of engineering, product, and customer operations. You will spend time with business owners and their teams in Surat’s textile hubs, understand how work really gets done, and build practical solutions with the core engineering team. Your work may include an ERP connector, a reliable catalog import, a supplier-facing workflow, or a tool that makes an operational handoff easier to manage. You will own problems from discovery and prototyping through reviewed implementation, rollout, and follow-up. The goal is to solve a real customer problem and turn repeatable solutions into maintainable platform capabilities. This is a full-time role based in Surat, Gujarat, with hybrid engineering work and regular visits to local manufacturers, suppliers, and logistics partners. We welcome engineers with 1–3 years of experience and high-potential graduates who can demonstrate strong projects, practical problem solving, and clear communication.

Responsibilities

  • Understand real workflows: visit manufacturers, suppliers, warehouses, and logistics partners; map how inventory, catalogs, orders, and handoffs move across their existing tools.
  • Build reliable integrations: develop APIs, webhooks, data imports, and connectors that exchange data with ERP, inventory, accounting, or logistics systems through supported interfaces and permitted exports.
  • Prototype with users: build focused tools and workflow improvements, validate them with the people doing the work, and agree on a clear path from pilot to maintainable production software.
  • Own implementation quality: write tested, readable code; validate and reconcile imported data; handle retries and duplicate events; and make integrations observable and recoverable.
  • Translate field learning into product decisions: document problems, requirements, technical trade-offs, and reusable patterns with the engineering and product teams.
  • Troubleshoot operational issues: diagnose integration, API, application, and data problems using appropriate logs and tooling; communicate progress clearly and coordinate lasting fixes.
  • Enable adoption and handover: create practical documentation, demonstrate workflows to users, and follow up on whether the solution improves accuracy, reliability, or time spent on the task.

Requirements

  • Strong software fundamentals and practical proficiency in at least one backend language, such as TypeScript/Node.js, Python, or Go. You should be able to explain the code you have built and debug unfamiliar systems.
  • Working knowledge of REST APIs, webhooks, authentication, and common data formats such as JSON and CSV; familiarity with XML is useful.
  • Comfort with SQL, data modeling, and investigating data-quality issues. Experience with a relational database through projects, internships, or production work is valuable.
  • A disciplined approach to production software: testing, version control, access control, error handling, and protecting customer and business data.
  • Ability to turn an ambiguous operational problem into a small, testable solution, weigh trade-offs, and work through incomplete or inconsistent data.
  • Clear working communication in English and Hindi, including patient conversations with business owners and users who may be less familiar with technology.
  • Ability to work from Surat and make regular local field visits. This role combines focused engineering time with direct customer interaction.

Good to have

  • Spoken Gujarati and familiarity with Surat’s textile markets, manufacturing, wholesale trade, or supplier operations.
  • Experience with Tally or other ERP/accounting tools, inventory systems, warehouse workflows, shipping integrations, or B2B commerce.
  • Experience building a simple web or mobile interface, automating a repetitive workflow, or deploying and monitoring a production service.
  • Evidence of ownership through a shipped product, a useful open-source contribution, a strong technical project, or a customer-facing engineering engagement.

Benefits & Opportunities

Practical exposure, mentorship, recognition, and pathways to grow with TradeTrust.

  • End-to-end ownership of practical engineering problems, with direct visibility into how your work helps real businesses.
  • Close collaboration with engineering, product, and operations teams, and exposure to the full lifecycle of a growing B2B platform.
  • The opportunity to develop depth in integrations, data reliability, supply chain workflows, and customer-facing technical problem solving.
  • Compensation will be discussed during the hiring process based on the role, skills, and experience.

What success looks like

We value outcomes that customers can use and the engineering team can maintain. A strong engagement leaves behind:

  • A clearly understood business problem, an agreed scope, and a working solution validated with the users who depend on it.
  • Reliable data and predictable operational behavior, with practical monitoring, recovery steps, and documentation.
  • Reusable learning that improves the core product, alongside a clear handover and evidence of better accuracy, less manual work, or faster execution.
