Java FIX Engineer

InTrade is a fast-growing trading technology start-up specializing in the design and development of high-performance trading systems for institutional clients, with a focus on emerging markets. Our eFX Trading Platform is the backbone of our business, supporting real-time pricing, market making, algorithmic trading, auto-hedging, and risk management.

We are seeking a talented Core Java Engineer with a strong focus on FIX protocol experience and market data & order FIX gateways. This role is perfect for engineers with 3+ years of experience eager to contribute to a high-performance trading platform.

Role Overview:

This is full time Mumbai based position; requires hands on expertise in FIX protocol integration and Core Java development. The role involves building and optimizing components such as FIX gateways, market data gateways, and order FIX gateways for our low-latency trading platform.

Key Responsibilities:

• Integrate and optimize FIX-based communication between trading systems, market participants, and liquidity providers
• Develop and maintain market data and order FIX gateways using FIX 4.4 and FIX 5.0 for exchange connectivity
• Collaborate with the team to enhance system performance for low-latency, high-throughput environments
• Troubleshoot, monitor, and resolve issues related to FIX protocol interactions in production systems
• Contribute to the adoption of best practices in software development and design.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or equivalent
• Experience: 3+ years of hands-on Core Java development in performance-critical environments

Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in Core Java (Java 8 / 11 / 17 / 21), with good grasp of Java concurrency and multi-threading
• Strong understanding of OOAD & SOLID design principles
• Familiarity with network protocols and high performance messaging systems
• Good knowledge of FIX protocols (FIX 5.0 & FIX 4.4) & QuickFIXJ /similar frameworks
• Basic understanding of JVM internals, garbage collection, performance tuning & profiling tools
• Hands-on experience with TDD/BDD and CI/CD pipelines

Good-to-Have Skills:

• Experience with low latency FIX Engines such as Chronicle FIX, Coral FIX, OnixS FIX, FIX Antenna/FIX Edge etc
• Experience with low-latency technologies (Chronicle Queue, Chronicle Map, LMAX Disruptor, OpenHFT, memory-mapped files)
• Experience with in-memory data grids (Hazelcast, Redis, AMPS etc)
• Understanding of time series databases (KDB, QuestDB, ClickhouseDB, InfluxDB).
• Performance benchmarking (JLBH & JMH)
