Senior Engineer II, Multi-technology Product Design
About The Role
We're looking for a senior Technical Product Manager who combines deep process automation expertise with strong technical leadership, customer focus, and business judgment.
You will work across customers, engineering teams, architects, cybersecurity specialists, and business leaders to identify the most important problems worth solving, shape product and technology investments, and drive execution across a global matrixed organization.
This role is for someone who takes ownership, challenges assumptions, influences without authority, and enjoys turning complex ideas into delivered outcomes.
What You'll Do
- Define product strategy, roadmap priorities, and technology investment recommendations.
- Engage directly with customers to understand problems, validate opportunities, and shape future offerings.
- Lead cross-functional initiatives spanning software, firmware, hardware, systems, cybersecurity, networking, and cloud technologies.
- Build alignment across globally distributed teams and drive issues to resolution.
- Challenge requirements, estimates, architectures, and plans to improve outcomes.
- Develop business cases and investment recommendations based on customer value, strategic alignment, technical risk, and business impact.
- Partner with engineering leaders and architects to guide platform evolution and modernization.
- Present recommendations and product strategy to customers, senior leadership, and industry audiences.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Significant experience in process automation, distributed control systems, industrial software, embedded systems, instrumentation, or control engineering.
- Demonstrated technical leadership experience leading complex cross-functional initiatives.
- Proven ability to influence technical and business decisions without direct authority.
- Strong understanding of software, firmware, hardware, networking, cybersecurity, and systems architecture concepts.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
Strongly Preferred
- Experience with Foxboro DCS, EcoStruxure Automation Expert, DeltaV, Honeywell Experion, ABB 800xA, Yokogawa CENTUM, Siemens PCS, or similar DCS platforms.
- Experience in continuous process industries such as oil and gas, refining, chemicals, power generation, mining, or pulp and paper.
- Background in instrumentation, process control, control strategy design, and plant operations.
- Software and/or firmware development experience.
- Experience delivering industrial hardware products.
- Experience as a Lead Engineer, System Architect, Technical Lead, Automation Consultant, or Technical Product Manager.
Who Will Succeed In This Role
The ideal candidate:
- Takes ownership of difficult problems and drives them through resolution.
- Thinks like an investor, treating engineering capacity as a limited resource.
- Balances customer value, strategic importance, technical risk, and execution cost.
- Is comfortable respectfully challenging assumptions and recommendations at any organizational level.
- Earns credibility with software, firmware, hardware, systems, and cybersecurity teams.
- Can confidently engage with customers, engineers, architects, Directors, and Vice Presidents.
- Drives alignment quickly in ambiguous situations and across organizational boundaries.
- Looks for platform leverage and reusable solutions rather than one-off implementations.
Why this role matters
