About the Role:
We’re looking for a Senior Platform and Security Engineer to join our Business Transformation team. In this role, you’ll serve as the technical authority for infrastructure, architecture, security, and access across
our backend and frontend applications.
This is a hands-on role. You will write code in our services, make security decisions at the
implementation level, own the maturity of our database and permission models, and set the
implementation targets that our R&D DevOps partners build against. You will sit alongside
our engineering team as the senior technical voice on infrastructure and security, with real
decision-making authority and the expectation that you use it in consultation with the team.
We are early in our platform maturity. You will be the person who takes us from a working
system to a resilient one.
What You’ll Do:
- Own the architecture of our backend and frontend applications and guide both toward maturity
- Write production code in our services, with a focus on security, reliability, and architectural soundness
- Partner with InfoSec to implement security controls and systematically reduce our attack surface
- Mature our database practices, including data modeling, schema design, roles, and permissions
- Establish and enforce best practices for access control and permission management across systems
- Define infrastructure and implementation targets for the R&D DevOps team and verify delivery against them
- Act as the trusted source of truth for infrastructure and security decisions across Automation Ops
- Mentor engineers on architecture, secure coding practices, and database design Review infrastructure and security-relevant code changes across the team's services Identify root causes of recurring failures and implement lasting fixes
- Document infrastructure standards, operating procedures, and architectural decisions Support the ongoing migration of our services to AWS, setting the target architecture and validating the result
Participate in the on-call rotation for infrastructure and security alerts only, not general application support
What You’ll Bring:
- Deep working knowledge of AWS and cloud architecture, with hands-on experience across services such as ECS, RDS, SQS, IAM, API Gateway, and Lambda, sufficient to design target-state infrastructure and evaluate another team's implementation
- Experience designing and reviewing CI/CD pipelines, including automated testing and safe deployment practices such as staged rollouts and rollback
- Experience building and running containerized applications with Docker in a managed orchestration environment such as ECS, EKS, or Kubernetes
- Strong backend engineering skills, including the ability to make and defend security decisions at the code level
- Demonstrated experience maturing PostgreSQL practices, including data modeling, roles, permissions, performance, and recovery
- Practical experience designing and enforcing access control and identity management across systems
- Experience partnering with security teams to reduce attack surface in production systems
- Experience with Terraform or another Infrastructure as Code tool
- Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills
- The judgment to make decisions independently and the instinct to consult the team before doing so
- Clear written and verbal communication, including with non-engineering stakeholders
Education & Experience:
- 5+ years of professional experience across software engineering, platform engineering, or infrastructure roles, with meaningful time spent hands-on in application code using Python
- Hands-on experience with AI infrastructure, whether professional or through personal projects
- Experience deploying open-source models for local or self-hosted inference
- Experience standing up and operating cloud inference environments
- Familiarity with model-serving platforms and inference runtimes
- Experience designing or deploying production AI agent systems
- Experience implementing tracing, evaluation, and observability for AI agents
- Familiarity with tools such as LangSmith, Langfuse, Arize Phoenix, or OpenTelemetry
- Familiarity with SOC 2, GDPR, or similar compliance requirements
- Experience working on frontend applications with React and TypeScript
