A hands-on Azure engineer capable of independently implementing, securing, automating, and operating enterprise-scale API management platforms with a focus on reliability, performance, and governance.

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Azure Engineer with strong hands-on expertise in Azure API Management (APIM) to design, implement, secure, and operate enterprise-grade API management solutions across multiple regions. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of APIM architecture, networking, authentication, security policies, automation, and high-availability design.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage Azure API Management solutions across multiple regions.
• Configure APIM management and data-plane architecture, including regional deployments and connectivity.
• Implement API authentication and authorization using Microsoft Entra ID, OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, managed identities, and other applicable security mechanisms.
• Develop and maintain APIM policies for request and response transformation, rate limiting, throttling, caching, access control, and traffic routing.
• Configure secure network connectivity, including virtual networks, private endpoints, private DNS, and integration with backend services.
• Establish API publishing standards, versioning, revision management, governance, and lifecycle management practices.
• Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and CI/CD pipelines to automate APIM configuration and policy deployments.
• Configure monitoring, logging, diagnostics, alerting, and operational dashboards for API platforms.
• Design and implement high availability, disaster recovery, and business continuity strategies for globally distributed API services.
• Troubleshoot API connectivity, authentication, performance, and availability issues.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in Azure engineering, cloud infrastructure, or platform engineering.
• Strong hands-on experience with Azure API Management, preferably in multi-region environments.
• Good understanding of APIM gateway architecture, management plane, data plane, and deployment models.
• Experience with API security, authentication, authorization, certificates, secrets, and policy configuration.
• Strong knowledge of Azure networking, including VNets, private endpoints, DNS, routing, and network security.
• Experience with Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions and Infrastructure as Code using Bicep, ARM templates, or Terraform.
• Knowledge of Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Application Insights, and API diagnostics.
• Experience implementing resilient and secure enterprise API platforms.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Azure Front Door, Application Gateway, and Web Application Firewall (WAF).
• Familiarity with API governance, developer portals, API products, and subscription management.
• Experience with automated testing and promotion of API configurations across development, testing, and production environments.
• Relevant Microsoft Azure certifications are an advantage.
