Mid-Level Software Engineer (Full Stack Developer) - Mumbai

Java and Spring are our primary backend technologies, with Angular and TypeScript on the frontend.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the full product lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, development, configuration, and deployment
• Develop software using Agile methodologies, including Behaviour Driven Development (BDD) and Continuous Deployment practices
• Provide ongoing maintenance, enhancements, and defect fixes for Smartstream solutions and internal toolkits
• Follow Smartstream's engineering processes, coding guidelines, and quality standards
• Build scalable, resilient, and high-performance software solutions that meet the stringent requirements of global financial institutions
• Design, implement, and execute comprehensive unit and integration test suites
• Develop automation solutions to streamline and enhance the software development lifecycle

Must-Have Skills

• Strong professional experience with Java 8/17+ and Angular 15+
• Hands-on proficiency with Git, Maven, NPM, and Jenkins Pipelines
• Deep understanding of Spring Framework and Spring Boot microservices architecture
• Experience with RESTful APIs and Swagger/OpenAPI
• Practical experience working with SQL on relational databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, or Postgres
• Experience using AI tools such as Kiro, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot in development
• Strong verbal and written communication skills

Good to Have

• Experience with containerisation technologies: Docker/Podman, Kubernetes, OpenShift
• Understanding of AI technologies such as MCP
• Exposure to cloud technologies, preferably AWS

Experience

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, having progressed from a junior/associate engineering role
• Experience developing in a software vendor environment is desirable but not required
• Financial software experience would be a bonus but is not expected

Education

• Engineering graduate with a Computer Science / Information Technology background, or similar
