About Fluxton

Fluxton builds edge-enabled infrastructure for the real world. We develop cloud, edge, and hybrid platforms that power distributed systems where reliability, autonomy, and performance matter. Our technology enables organizations to choose the deployment model that best fits their operational, regulatory, and connectivity requirements.

We're starting with EV charging infrastructure, building systems that combine real-time communication, autonomous decision-making, and intelligent synchronization across cloud and edge environments.

We're looking for a Senior Embedded Engineer with 3–5 years of professional experience who can take ownership of embedded software and firmware across Fluxton's edge platforms. This is a hands-on engineering role for someone comfortable working across embedded Linux, firmware, networking, hardware interfaces, communication protocols, and system architecture.

You'll be expected not only to write reliable embedded software, but also to make architectural decisions, review implementations, debug complex hardware/software problems, and help establish strong engineering practices as our embedded systems grow.

What You'll Work On

  • Design and develop embedded software and firmware for Fluxton's edge computing platforms
  • Own major components of the embedded architecture from design through deployment
  • Build software that interfaces directly with EV chargers, controllers, sensors, communication modules, and other infrastructure hardware
  • Design reliable communication between edge devices, chargers, and cloud services
  • Develop and maintain low-level interfaces, drivers, services, and hardware abstraction layers
  • Work with Ethernet, Wi-Fi, Cellular, CAN Bus, RS485, UART, SPI, I2C, USB, and related technologies
  • Develop software for microcontrollers, ARM-based processors, and Linux-based edge computers
  • Design systems that remain reliable under intermittent connectivity, hardware failures, network disruptions, and other real-world operating conditions
  • Implement fault handling, retry mechanisms, watchdogs, recovery strategies, logging, and diagnostics
  • Debug complex firmware, hardware integration, networking, and field issues
  • Design and conduct testing, validation, stress testing, and reliability assessments
  • Review embedded code and architecture and defend technical decisions through engineering reasoning
  • Collaborate with backend, frontend, infrastructure, and hardware engineers on end-to-end system design
  • Participate actively in architecture discussions and technical design decisions
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to embedded engineering standards and practices
  • Produce clear documentation for firmware architecture, protocols, interfaces, hardware integrations, and implementation decisions

Requirements

We're looking for an experienced embedded engineer with 3–5 years of professional embedded systems experience who can independently own technically significant parts of Fluxton's embedded platform.

Must Have

  • 3–5 years of professional experience in embedded software, firmware, or closely related systems engineering
  • Strong programming skills in Rust
  • Strong understanding of embedded systems architecture and firmware development
  • Professional experience building and debugging production embedded systems
  • Experience with microcontrollers and embedded processors such as STM32, ESP32, ARM-based SoCs, or similar platforms
  • Strong experience with Linux-based development environments
  • Experience developing software for embedded Linux systems
  • Strong understanding of electronics fundamentals, digital circuits, and hardware/software integration
  • Experience with hardware communication interfaces such as UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, USB, Ethernet, and RS485
  • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, sockets, routing, and network troubleshooting
  • Experience debugging problems across hardware, firmware, operating system, and network boundaries
  • Understanding of concurrency, memory management, resource constraints, and system reliability
  • Experience designing fault-tolerant software, including retries, timeouts, recovery mechanisms, and failure handling
  • Experience using Git in collaborative engineering environments
  • Ability to independently investigate unfamiliar hardware, protocols, and technical problems
  • Ability to explain, justify, and defend engineering and architectural decisions

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Buildroot, Yocto, or custom embedded Linux distributions
  • Strong familiarity with ARM-based Linux systems
  • Experience with MQTT, OCPP, Modbus, CAN-based protocols, or similar industrial communication systems
  • Experience designing IoT or edge computing platforms
  • Experience with distributed edge systems and cloud-to-device communication
  • Experience with real-time or near-real-time systems
  • Experience with bootloaders, kernel configuration, device trees, or Linux device drivers
  • Experience with OTA firmware/software updates and device lifecycle management
  • Experience implementing secure device communication, certificates, PKI, or hardware-backed identity
  • Experience with EV charging infrastructure
  • Experience with energy management systems, industrial automation, BESS, solar, or related infrastructure
  • Experience mentoring or technically leading other embedded engineers

Tech Stack

Rust

  • Python
  • Embedded Linux
  • MQTT
  • OCPP
  • CAN Bus
  • RS485
  • Ethernet
  • ARM
  • ESP32
  • STM32
  • Raspberry Pi
  • Buildroot

Compensation & Benefits

  • ₹12–18 LPA salary
  • Competitive ESOP package
  • Full-time role
  • Direct collaboration with the founding team
  • Significant ownership over Fluxton's embedded architecture and technical direction
  • Opportunity to build embedded systems that operate in real-world EV charging and energy infrastructure
  • Opportunity to shape engineering standards and architecture at an early-stage company

Location & Start Date

Bengaluru, India

This is a full-time, 5-day in-office role.

Expected starting date: November 1, 2026 - November 10, 2026

Hiring Process

1. Aptitude Test

A structured assessment covering analytical reasoning, problem-solving, and engineering fundamentals.

2. Screening Call

An initial conversation covering your background, previous embedded work, technical interests, and experience building real-world systems.

3. Technical & Personal Interview

An in-depth interview comprising:

  • Live Coding — solving embedded/software engineering problems while explaining your approach
  • Code Defence — reviewing and defending code, design decisions, assumptions, and trade-offs
  • Architecture-Based Questions — designing embedded and edge systems while reasoning through reliability, communication, hardware constraints, failure modes, and scalability
  • Discussion of previous projects, engineering decisions, failures, debugging experiences, and technical ownershipWe're interested in how you reason about engineering problems, not simply whether you arrive at the expected answer.

4. Take-Home Assignment

A practical engineering assignment designed to evaluate implementation quality, architecture, debugging ability, documentation, and engineering judgment.

5. Assignment Review

A detailed technical discussion of your submission. You'll walk us through your architecture and implementation, explain your decisions and trade-offs, and discuss how you would improve or extend the system.

How to Apply

Please submit your resume along with any relevant:

  • GitHub repositories
  • Embedded systems or firmware projects
  • Embedded Linux work
  • Hardware integrations
  • IoT or edge computing platforms
  • Device drivers or communication protocol implementations
  • Research work
