Job Description

Role Intent

  • A hands-on delivery leader who can shape a new squad, turn an undefined AI opportunity into an executable plan, and own delivery outcomes while continuing to lead core Scrum activities.

Role purpose

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of a Finance AI Strategy squad operating in a complex and evolving environment.
  • The role will establish the squad, delivery approach, governance and working rhythm, translating business problems into prioritised, measurable outcomes from discovery and experimentation through implementation and adoption.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own delivery from problem definition and discovery through planning, build, testing, release, adoption and outcome tracking.
  • Shape the squad from the ground up, clarifying purpose, roles, accountabilities, decision rights and ways of working.
  • Translate ambiguous business and AI opportunities into a clear roadmap, prioritised backlog, milestones and achievable delivery plans.
  • Manage scope, capacity, risks, assumptions, dependencies, blockers and trade-offs, escalating early with clear options and recommendations.
  • Lead stakeholder alignment across Finance, Product, Data, Architecture, Engineering, Risk and third-party suppliers.
  • Facilitate Scrum activities including refinement, sprint planning, daily coordination, reviews and retrospectives, applying Agile practices pragmatically rather than mechanically.
  • Maintain delivery transparency through Jira, dashboards, milestone reporting, decisions, delivery confidence and measurable outcomes.
  • Create a culture of ownership, experimentation, learning and continuous improvement in a setting where no established playbook may exist.

Essential Experience And Capabilities

  • Proven ownership of complex technology, transformation, data or AI-enabled delivery, with clear evidence of personal contribution and business impact.
  • Experience establishing a new squad, delivery model, product initiative or programme from an early or undefined starting point.
  • Ability to operate confidently in ambiguity, structure complex problems and progress decisions with incomplete information.
  • Strong delivery management across planning, governance, risk, dependencies, stakeholder communication and execution.
  • Practical Scrum and Agile expertise, supported by delivery judgement rather than ceremony-only facilitation.
  • Credibility with senior business and technology stakeholders, including the ability to challenge constructively and influence without formal authority.
  • Working knowledge of AI, data, automation or emerging-technology delivery is strongly desirable; deep technical development expertise is not mandatory.
  • Basic delivery-level understanding of the SAP Finance landscape is advantageous, including exposure to SAP S/4HANA, SAP BW and Finance processes such as Record to Report (R2R), together with awareness of other relevant SAP modules. This is desirable rather than mandatory; deep SAP functional or technical expertise is not required.
