Apprentice
Job Description
Global Merchant & Network Services (GMNS) brings together American Express' merchant- and network-related businesses to deliver differentiated value to merchants, partners and Card Members. The organization manages relationships with merchants that accept American Express, operates the company’s payment network and supports bank partnerships globally.
In support of GMNS’s mission, Global Governance, Risk, Remediation, and Operations is focused on building a resilient and efficient operational foundation for critical merchant experiences, strengthening oversight of merchant and network processes, and advancing operational excellence. As part of this organization, Global Merchant Account Operations & Resilience supports effective oversight of merchant account setup, account management and maintenance activities.
The team is improving how merchant accounts, account relationships and critical merchant data are maintained, governed and scaled throughout the merchant lifecycle. This includes hierarchy information, cancellation information, account classifications and other key data attributes used across American Express. The team strengthens data quality and controls, simplifies operational processes, and explores automation, analytics and AI-enabled approaches that reduce manual effort and improve servicing outcomes.
As an apprentice, you will support well-defined transformation and operational-improvement assignments across merchant hierarchy, account maintenance, governance, controls and automation. You will gain practical experience in business analysis, data analysis, process documentation, testing and cross-functional delivery while working under the guidance of experienced colleagues.
The apprentice will provide incremental capacity to progress well-defined initiatives that improve account maintenance, data integrity and governance, while enabling experienced colleagues to remain focused on higher-complexity priorities and delivery. The ideal candidate will demonstrate analytical curiosity, clear communication and an interest in solving data and operational challenges.
This is an apprenticeship position hired under the Apprentices Act. The apprentice will complete structured, supervised work and learning assignments with support from experienced colleagues.
