Backend Developer (Node.js / MERN Stack)
We are looking for a skilled Backend Developer with 3–4 years of experience in Node.js and the MERN ecosystem. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable backend services and APIs that power our logistics platform. You will collaborate closely with frontend developers, AI/ML engineers, QA teams, and product managers to build secure, high-performance applications.
Key Responsibilities
Backend Development
Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable backend applications using Node.js and Express.js.
Build secure, reusable, and high-performance RESTful APIs for web and mobile applications.
Design scalable backend architectures capable of handling high transaction volumes and real-time data processing.
Optimize application performance, reliability, and scalability.
Database Management
Design and maintain MongoDB collections, schemas, and indexes.
Write optimized queries and aggregation pipelines for large datasets.
Ensure data consistency, integrity, and security across applications.
API Integration
Integrate third-party APIs such as payment gateways, SMS services, email platforms, mapping services, GPS providers, and logistics partners.
Develop APIs for shipment tracking, freight quotation, customer management, notifications, and reporting.
Security & Authentication
Implement authentication and authorization using JWT, OAuth, or similar technologies.
Develop role-based access control (RBAC).
Follow secure coding standards and industry best practices.
Performance Optimization
Monitor backend performance and troubleshoot production issues.
Optimize APIs, database queries, and server-side processes.
Implement caching mechanisms using Redis or similar technologies where applicable.
Collaboration
Work closely with Frontend Developers to integrate APIs seamlessly.
Collaborate with Product Managers, QA Engineers, and DevOps teams throughout the development lifecycle.
Participate in sprint planning, code reviews, and technical discussions.
Code Quality
Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
Develop unit and integration tests.
Maintain code quality through peer reviews and best development practices.
Required Skills
3–4 years of hands-on experience in backend development.
Strong proficiency in Node.js and Express.js.
Strong experience with MongoDB and database design.
Good understanding of JavaScript (ES6+) and asynchronous programming.
Experience developing RESTful APIs.
Familiarity with Git and version control workflows.
Knowledge of authentication mechanisms such as JWT and OAuth.
Understanding of API security best practices.
Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Preferred Skills
Experience with Python for scripting, automation, or backend integrations.
Knowledge of Socket.io or WebSockets for real-time applications.
Experience with Docker and containerized deployments.
Familiarity with Redis for caching and session management.
Experience with testing frameworks such as Jest or Mocha.
Understanding of microservices architecture and message queues (RabbitMQ, Kafka, etc.).
Exposure to GraphQL.
Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
Experience working with CI/CD pipelines.
Understanding of logistics, supply chain, fleet management, or transportation systems is an added advantage.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
Relevant certifications in Node.js, cloud technologies, or backend development will be an added advantage.
