Senior AI Agent / AWS Engineer

ApexNeural is a Hyderabad based enterprise AI studio building agentic systems for global clients. We are expanding our delivery team and are looking for a senior engineer who can design and build production-grade AI agent applications and the AWS infrastructure that supports them.

About the role

You will own backend and cloud engineering for AI-enabled applications. This is a hands-on role requiring deep understanding of Amazon Bedrock AgentCore and AWS Step Functions, together with practical experience building reliable, secure and observable agentic applications and workflows.

What you will do

• Design and build production-grade agentic applications and workflows on AWS.
• Design, implement and maintain agent workflows using Amazon Bedrock AgentCore and AWS Step Functions.
• Build integrations with external APIs, enterprise systems and cloud services, including robust handling of authentication, failures, retries and asynchronous operations.
• Integrate LLMs, agents and tools into production workflows with appropriate guardrails, observability and error handling.
• Design reliable agent pipelines involving tool calling, workflow orchestration, state management and human-in-the-loop processes where required.
• Build serverless and container-based services using AWS services such as Lambda, API Gateway, EventBridge, SQS and ECS/EKS.
• Implement infrastructure as code, CI/CD, monitoring and logging.
• Apply appropriate AWS security practices including IAM, secrets management, encryption and audit logging.
• Work closely with clients and the internal engineering team to understand requirements, make architectural decisions and deliver production solutions.
• Review code and architecture and provide technical guidance to other engineers.Must have
• 5+ years of software engineering experience, with strong hands-on AWS experience.
• Deep understanding of Amazon Bedrock AgentCore and AWS Step Functions.
• Hands-on experience building agentic or AI applications, including LLM integration, tool calling, agent workflows or similar systems.
• Strong Python experience. Node.js/TypeScript is also valuable.
• Strong understanding of REST APIs, event-driven architectures and distributed systems.
• Experience with MCP or other agent and tool integration frameworks.
• Experience with LLM evaluation, guardrails and agent observability.
• Hands-on experience with Docker and CI/CD.
• Good understanding of AWS networking, IAM and cloud security fundamentals.
• Ability to independently design, implement, troubleshoot and explain production systems.
• Clear written and spoken communication and ability to participate directly in client discussions.Good to have
• Experience with Terraform or AWS CDK.
• Experience with healthcare, fintech, legal tech or other regulated environments.
• Experience integrating enterprise IT, security, infrastructure or ITSM platforms.
• AWS certification.
