About The Role

Qualcomm India Private Limited is seeking a highly motivated Multimodal AI Research Engineer to join its Advanced Technology R&D team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to design, develop, and bring to market next-generation AI solutions that span audio, video, and language domains. As a key member of the team, you will operate at the intersection of research and product development, building state-of-the-art multimodal models and ensuring their efficient deployment on Snapdragon platforms. These platforms power a variety of devices, including mobile phones, XR systems, and integrated IoT solutions, enabling Qualcomm to stay at the forefront of AI innovation. The role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams—including hardware, software, and systems engineers—to translate cutting-edge research into scalable, real-world applications. Qualifications

Candidates should possess a strong educational background with a Master’s or Ph.D. in Electronics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Relevant experience includes at least two years in the fields of computer vision, natural language processing, audio AI, or multimodal AI within academic or industrial settings. Proficiency in deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow is essential, along with a solid understanding of transformer architectures, CNNs, and diffusion models. Experience in on-device AI optimization and deployment is highly desirable. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills, the ability to work effectively within cross-functional global teams, and a passion for advancing AI technologies.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop multimodal AI models that integrate audio, vision, and language processing capabilities.
• Implement solutions utilizing transformers, diffusion models, and multimodal fusion techniques to enhance AI performance and versatility.
• Optimize AI models for deployment on Snapdragon platforms, leveraging CPU, DSP, and NPU architectures to ensure efficiency and scalability.
• Collaborate closely with hardware, systems, and software teams to facilitate seamless integration and deployment of AI solutions.
• Transition research prototypes into production-ready solutions, supporting the commercialization process and ensuring robustness in real-world applications.
• Stay updated with the latest advancements in AI research and incorporate innovative techniques into product development.
• Participate in cross-disciplinary team meetings to align project goals and share technical insights.
