Job Description: Wexa AI is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Software Development Engineer to lead engineering efforts in decomposing our monolithic applications into scalable, modular microservices. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain clean, efficient, and well-tested code across both backend (Python, Ruby) and frontend (React/Angular) stacks. You will be instrumental in building and evolving secure, high-performance APIs that support real-time data pipelines and customer-facing applications. You will partner with cross-functional teams including Product, QA, DevOps, and Data Engineering to deliver end-to-end solutions that align with business goals. A key aspect of this role involves contributing to architectural decisions that enhance performance, observability, security, maintainability, scalability, and reusability. We champion engineering best practices such as CI/CD, TDD, pair programming, and code reviews, and expect you to take ownership of projects from ideation through deployment, with a strong bias for execution and iterative improvement. You will also be a proactive voice in platform strategy, bringing innovative ideas and continuous learning to the team, and contributing to our cloud-native infrastructure using AWS serverless technologies like Lambda, SQS, DynamoDB, and S3. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of software development experience with a strong foundation in backend systems, particularly Python. Experience with modern front-end frameworks like React, Angular, or VueJS is essential, along with 3+ years of experience with backend web frameworks such as Django, Flask, or Rails. Hands-on experience with AWS services including Lambda, S3, SQS, API Gateway, and CloudWatch is required. You should be comfortable working in an agile, test-driven development environment with modern DevOps tooling and possess practical knowledge of RESTful APIs, SQL/NoSQL databases (MySQL, Postgres, DynamoDB), and GraphQL. Experience in designing and implementing event-driven services using technologies like AWS EventBridge, SNS/SQS to enable decoupled, scalable microservice communication is also important. Proficiency in containerization (Docker) and CI/CD pipelines, as well as familiarity with testing and linting tools (pytest, rspec, jest, Flake8, RuboCop), will be highly valued. We are looking for an excellent communicator with a strong collaborative mindset and a passion for mentoring and peer reviews, holding a BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of software development experience.
  • Strong foundation in backend systems using Python (must-have) and Ruby (nice to have).

  • 3+ years of experience with backend web frameworks (e.g., Django, Flask, Rails).
