Senior Manager

IndiGo (InterGlobe Aviation Ltd)
Gurgaon, Haryana, India

Senior Manager, Insurance Products

IndiGo, Financial Services and Loyalty

Role Overview

IndiGo is building a consumer platform around BluChip loyalty, financial services and travel

commerce, and embedded insurance is a core part of it. This role will conceptualise and launch

insurance products, such as baggage, delay and flexible cancellation cover, from concept to a

live, growing and compliant business inside the booking and loyalty ecosystem.

The person will own product design, pricing, the digital distribution / attachment and will be the

customer custodian when a claim arises, while keeping every step within IRDAI regulation. The

role suits someone who can imagine an insurance product, embed it in the customer journey

with the least possible friction, and care as much about adoption as about getting the product

right.

Key Deliverables

Product and Insurer Partnership

Take each product to market from an insurer's already filed product where one fits, or

co-file a new product with the insurer where it does not, owning the product definition,

benefits and terms from concept to launch.

Run RFPs and negotiate with insurers on commercials, service levels, stop-loss terms

and group or master policy structure.

Track airline, travel platform and fintech insurance offerings, pricing and claim models,

so that IndiGo's propositions stay ahead of the market.

Pricing and Underwriting

Own pricing for every product, built on claim frequency and severity, route and season

patterns and IndiGo's own data, so that the price is right the first time and not corrected

after launch.

Balance conversion against loss ratio, setting premiums that customers accept and the

insurer can sustain.

Design the controls that protect each product from adverse selection and fraud, and

track loss ratio, claim cost and attach rate against plan.

Digital Distribution and Issuance

Own the embedding of insurance across web, app, booking flow, Manage Booking, web

check-in, itinerary and WhatsApp, with the least friction for the customer and a clear lift

in attach rate. Evaluate embedding insurance offering across loyalty tiers.

Deliver seamless policy issuance through partner APIs for quote, issuance and

certificate delivery, including payment, split settlement and reconciliation.

  • Write requirements and work with engineering, design, data and QA to ship on time, run

experiments on pricing, placement and messaging, and give leadership clear

dashboards.

Claims and Customer Custodianship

Own the full claims experience, including automated, data-triggered claims using flight

and baggage data, with fast settlement, including in BluChips.

Act as the digital custodian of the customer when something goes wrong, with service,

grievance and escalation processes agreed with insurers and a consistent experience

from end to end.

Compliance and Governance

Keep products aligned with IRDAI regulation, including group policies, corporate agent

or ISNP structures, distribution models and expenses of management, working with

Legal and Compliance.

Treat compliance as a design input from the first product definition, so that launches are

not delayed or reworked late.

Ideal Profile

7 to 9 years of experience, with at least 3 to 4 years at an insurer, an insurtech or an

organisation that offers insurance as a product.

Has launched insurance products end to end, including from a filed or co-filed product,

and understands product design, underwriting basics, claims, and group versus retail

policies.

Understands insurance pricing deeply, including frequency, severity, loss ratio and

adverse selection, and can balance a price customers accept with one the insurer can

sustain.

Digital-first: has launched and scaled consumer insurance or financial products inside an

app or booking journey, thinks in APIs and data, uses product analytics, and moves

quickly from insight to experiment to launch. Experience in embedded, travel or

parametric insurance is a strong advantage.

Has built claims or servicing journeys and owns the outcome when something goes

wrong, not only the sale.

Fluent in IRDAI regulation and treats compliance as part of product design, with a strong

drive for growth and product adoption and a builder mentality.
