Product & Technology Lead - AI B2B SaaS

Ekfrazo Technologies Private Limited
India

Job Title: Product & Technology Lead

Location: Hybrid – India (regular overlap with UK business hours required)

Exp: 15+ Years

Stack: Azure, React, Python, pandas and PySpark and SQL Server

Client is building an AI-driven financial and operational platform that transforms how multi-site businesses manage finance, operations and business intelligence. The first market is UK dental groups: practice owners and group operators who run multiple sites and need a single, reliable view of financial and operational performance.

The platform combines Financial Management, Power BI Embedded analytics, AI Insights, Dental Pay, Bookkeeping Automation, Forecasting, Reporting, Workflow Automation, and integrations with dental PMS systems, Xero, banking and payroll.

Key Responsibilities

1. Technical Leadership

  • Lead the engineering, QA and DevOps team: set direction, allocate work, run the delivery rhythm and hold the team to a standard demonstrated personally.
  • Own the technical roadmap and translate the CEO's commercial priorities into a sequenced plan with honest dates.
  • Act as the CEO's technical partner: give straight answers on what is possible, what it costs and what the risk is, early enough to change the decision.
  • Assess and grow the team: form an independent view of strengths and gaps, close gaps through coaching, restructuring or hiring, and report findings honestly and early.
  • Set and enforce engineering standards: coding standards, code review discipline, documentation and definition of done.
  • Solve problems in the open, with options: what is actually going on, the realistic options, the cost of each in time and risk, a recommendation with reasons, and a fallback plan.
  • Turn ambiguity into a plan: run discovery, frame the problem, size it honestly and return with a sequenced plan and named risks.
  • Show the working: prefer a one-page options paper with a clear recommendation over a polished conclusion with no reasoning.
  • Own technical decisions and their consequences (architecture, tooling, build-versus-buy, technical debt) with reasoning that can be explained to a non-technical board.
  • Represent the technology in commercial conversations: prospect security questionnaires, customer technical due diligence, and partner and vendor discussions.
  • Manage external technology partners, contractors and vendors where used.2. Delivery, Quality & Release (Including Hands-On Development)
  • Write production code across the stack (Python, React, SQL Server on Azure), particularly on the critical path to go-live. This should be a meaningful part of most weeks.
  • Own the remaining development backlog: triage, prioritise and drive to completion the features, defects and technical debt needed for a stable, commercially releasable product.
  • Fix the hard defects personally: those nobody else can reproduce, those in financial calculations, and those found the day before a go-live.
  • Run defect management end to end with a single, well-maintained register covering severity, reproduction steps, root cause, owner and target release. No "unknown" or ageing untriaged bugs.
  • Own test strategy and execution: functional, regression, integration, data-accuracy and user acceptance testing. Personally test critical financial flows. Reconciliation, pay calculations and reported figures must be right every time.
  • Define and enforce the release process: release notes, environments, deployment checklists, rollback plans and a go/no-go decision for each release.
  • Translate business requirements into clear technical specifications, user stories and acceptance criteria that leave no room for interpretation.
  • Run agile ceremonies (sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, retrospectives) across India-based development workstreams.
  • Review solutions and implementation quality: challenge architecture and technical decisions, and ensure coding standards, documentation and security practices are followed.
  • Remove blockers and manage delivery risk, escalating early and with a proposed option.
  • Maintain platform documentation (technical, configuration, integration and support) that the wider team can use.
  • Drive AI and automation initiatives, including AI-generated insights and automation of internal delivery and support tasks.3. Security, Penetration Testing & Compliance

The company handles financial data for healthcare businesses. Security is a condition of selling to dental groups at all and will be tested by every prospect's procurement process.

  • Own Client's security posture: authentication, authorisation, tenant isolation, encryption in transit and at rest, secrets management, access control and audit logging.
  • Commission and manage external penetration tests: scope them, brief the testers, triage findings, own remediation to a committed timeline and get the re-test passed.
  • Own the remediation backlog with severity-based SLAs. Critical findings do not wait for the next sprint.
  • Embed security into the development process: secure coding standards, dependency and vulnerability scanning, security review within code review, and secrets hygiene.
  • Own UK GDPR compliance in the platform: data residency, retention, subject access, deletion, and the technical controls behind DPAs. Data sits close to special category health data and must be treated accordingly.
  • Complete customer security questionnaires and technical due diligence, and build a reusable evidence pack.
  • Monitor and respond: alerting on suspicious activity, a rehearsed incident response plan, and a clear understanding of breach notification obligations.
  • Prepare for certification: build toward Cyber Essentials Plus or ISO 27001 as customer demand requires.4. Customer Onboarding, Data & Integration Delivery
  • Own the technical implementation of every customer: tenant and environment setup, configuration, data integration, migration, technical testing and technical go-live readiness for each dental group and each of its practices.
  • Lead data integration delivery: connect and validate dental PMS, Xero, banking and payroll sources; map charts of accounts, practice, practitioner and cost-centre structures; build and monitor the pipelines that keep them running.
  • Own data quality and reconciliation: profile source data before onboarding, resolve gaps, duplicates and structural problems, and reconcile platform output back to source so every figure can be defended.
  • Configure and validate dashboards per customer: ensure Power BI Embedded dashboards reflect the customer's group and practice structure, perform at scale, and are accurate before the CSM presents them.
  • Implement and prove Dental Pay: configure pay rules, splits, lab fees, deductions and pay runs per group, and run parallel testing against the customer's existing process until output matches.
  • Build and sign off Reports: standard and customer-specific reporting, scheduling and distribution, verified figure by figure before handover.
  • Build a repeatable technical onboarding playbook: data collection pack, integration checklist, configuration templates, migration scripts, technical UAT pack and go-live checklist, so each customer is faster than the last.
  • Run the technical implementation plan: milestones, dependencies, environment readiness, cut-over planning and risk management across multiple concurrent onboardings.
  • Support UAT and go-live: prepare test data and scripts, support the CSM through customer UAT, resolve issues found, and make the technical go/no-go call.
  • Own technical escalations after go-live: triage issues from the CSM team, diagnose root cause, route into the backlog and drive resolution to a committed timeline.
  • Monitor live customer environments (integration failures, data refresh issues, performance, errors) and fix issues before the customer reports them.
  • Feed the roadmap: turn recurring integration friction, data problems and CSM-reported requests into prioritised product improvements.

Essential Experience

  • Proven experience as a Technical Lead, Engineering Manager, Head of Engineering or Principal Engineer in a SaaS business, both leading the team and writing production code.
  • Currently hands-on: production code shipped within the last twelve months, with the wish to keep doing so. This is the single most important requirement and will be tested.
  • Structured problem solving: take an ambiguous or broken situation, work out what is happening, lay out realistic options with costs and risks, and make a clear recommendation.
  • Demonstrable track record of taking a SaaS product through final-stage development, testing and release into live production.
  • Experience owning security in a product sold to enterprise or regulated customers: pen test cycles, remediation, and sales-process security questions.
  • Hands-on delivery of the technical side of B2B SaaS customer onboarding (integrations, data migration, configuration, technical UAT), ideally for multi-site or multi-entity organisations.
  • Experience integrating with on-premise or legacy line-of-business systems, not only cloud-to-cloud APIs. Some customer source systems sit on a server in the practice.
  • Strong project management discipline: plans, milestones, RAID logs, status reporting and structured communication.
  • Strong agile delivery experience: sprint planning, backlog management, stand-ups and release management.
  • Experience leading or coordinating India-based, offshore or distributed engineering teams.
  • Practical QA and UAT experience: able to write and execute test cases personally.
  • Proven experience working alongside customer-facing colleagues (Customer Success, Account Management or Support) as their technical counterpart.
  • Excellent written and spoken English, with the ability to explain technical issues plainly to non-technical UK colleagues.
  • Comfort working with financial data, where accuracy is non-negotiable.

Technical Skills & Required Level

What You Must Be Able to Do

  • Python - Hands-on daily - Primary language for data work: pandas and PySpark pipelines, cleaning and reconciliation. Write and review it, not commission it.
  • React - Hands-on daily - Platform front end. Commit, review and release alongside the team.
  • SQL (SQL Server) - Hands-on daily - Write complex joins, aggregations and window functions unaided. Profile source data, build mappings and write reconciliation queries that prove a figure is right.
  • REST API integration - Hands-on daily - OAuth2 flows and token refresh, multi-tenant connections, pagination, rate limits, webhooks, retries and idempotency. Diagnose a failing integration from logs and raw responses.
  • Data integration & ETL - Hands-on daily - Incremental loads, change detection, error and dead-letter handling, reprocessing and backfills. Own pipelines that run unattended.
  • Data reconciliation - Hands-on daily - Prove platform output matches source, figure by figure. This is what makes Dental Pay safe to switch on.
  • File-based data handling - Hands-on daily- CSV, Excel and SFTP feeds with inconsistent headers, encodings, date formats and duplicates, cleaned and loaded reliably.
  • API & data testing- Hands-on daily - Postman or equivalent, SQL-based data validation, test case design and regression packs.
  • Azure - Working level - Data Factory or Logic Apps and Functions, App Service, Key Vault, Blob storage, Application Insights. Own environments, alerting and monitoring.
  • Power BI Embedded - Working level - Semantic models, DAX (read and debug at minimum), row-level security, incremental refresh, capacity and performance tuning, embed tokens.
  • Multi-tenant data security - Working level - Tenant isolation and row-level security so no customer can ever see another group's practices. Non-negotiable.
  • CI/CD & environments - Working level -Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions, branching, release pipelines, environment promotion and rollback.
  • Application security -Hands-on -OWASP Top 10, secure coding, dependency scanning, secrets management. Read a pen test report, judge what is real, and fix it personally.
  • Penetration test management - Working level - Scope and commission external tests, triage findings by severity, own remediation to a deadline and pass the re-test.
  • UK GDPR & data protection - Working level - Data adjacent to special category health data: DPAs, data residency, retention and deletion, encryption, access control and audit logging.
  • Finance & accounting basics - Working level - Chart of accounts, double-entry principles, accruals, VAT treatment and payroll concepts, enough to know when a number is wrong, not just different.
  • AI / LLM integration - Working level -Prompt design, retrieval basics and, above all, guardrails so an AI insight never states a financial figure it cannot support.
  • Verifying AI output - Hands-on daily - Use AI tooling, explain every line that reaches a customer, and catch it when the tool is confidently wrong.
