Full Stack Developer
BlueOptima is an engineering intelligence platform trusted by some of the world's largest banks, insurers, and enterprises. We give CTOs, CIOs, and engineering leaders the objective data they need to measure software engineering productivity, prove AI ROI, and reduce delivery risk.
The conversation we sit in the middle of is one of the most pressing in enterprise technology right now. Every large organisation is rolling out AI coding tools and nobody can tell their board whether it is actually working. We can. Our research and our platform provide the answer, and we are building the commercial engine to get that message in front of the people who need to hear it.
Job Description
We are looking for a skilled Full Stack Developer to help develop our scalable, data-driven analytical dashboard. You'll focus on building responsive, user-friendly interfaces that deliver key insights to our global clients. Join us and be a part of our mission to transform software development with cutting-edge analytics.
We are looking for an individual with great attention to detail, who is genuine, confident, committed and not only passionate about technology, but is keen to own the solution end to end, and most importantly excited to work in a fun and friendly start-up environment.
The ideal candidate will be passionate about technology and getting things to work while at the same time being able to mentor (and lead) other engineers by way of example to achieve excellence in their work.
As a Full Stack Engineer in our engineering team, you will be directly contributing to developing robust, scalable enterprise applications. You will take ownership of the end-to-end development lifecycle, heavily leveraging Java and Spring Boot for our core backend architecture, while also building dynamic user interfaces using React or Angular. You will contribute to the core architecture, data models, and API design, ensuring seamless integration between server-side logic and front-end components. In addition to hands-on development, you will also lead and mentor a team of next-generation engineers, guiding them in best practices across the full technology stack.
Responsibilities and tasks:
- Design, develop, implement, test, and maintain robust full-stack application components using Java, Spring Boot, and modern front-end frameworks.
- Design and build scalable RESTful APIs, and smoothly integrate them with responsive Single Page Applications (SPAs).
- Collaborate with product managers to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications for end-to-end feature development.
- Take ownership of feature development from concept to deployment, encompassing database architecture, backend logic, and UI implementation.
- Work with the Support team to investigate and resolve complex, full-stack issues raised by users and provide quick workarounds for significant system errors.
- Contribute to performance tuning of application code at both the database/server level and the client UI side to improve overall system speed and reliability.
- Lead and mentor a team of junior developers, guiding them in both backend stability and modern front-end development techniques.
Qualifications
What You Need to Succeed at BlueOptima:
- 5 to 7 years of overall software engineering experience.
- Minimum Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
- Strong backend expertise: Deep proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, and Native SQL, with a strong grasp of backend architecture and database modeling.
- Targeted frontend experience: At least 2 years of experience developing web-based user interfaces using HTML5, CSS, and modern JavaScript frameworks (React or Angular).
- Thorough understanding of RESTful web services, microservices architecture, and secure API integration.
- Strong understanding of UI usability aspects and the lifecycle of a Single Page Web Application.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and agile development environment and to quickly adapt to new frameworks or stacks.
Good to have:
- Basic understanding of CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and tools like Jenkins or Docker.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and distributed systems.
- Knowledge of SVG-based charting libraries such as D3.js for complex data visualization.
