Flexing It is a freelance consulting marketplace that connects freelancers and independent consultants with organisations seeking independent talent.

This is an independent consulting role with our client, who is looking for a Junior Data Scientist to support data-driven decision-making across manufacturing, chemical, and energy operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in data cleaning, statistical modelling, and basic AI/ML techniques, along with proficiency in Python.

Candidates with exposure to Generative AI (GenAI) and experience working with industrial or operational datasets will have an added advantage.

  • Collect, clean, preprocess, and validate structured and unstructured datasets from various sources.
  • Perform exploratory data analysis (EDA) to identify trends, patterns, anomalies, and actionable insights.
  • Support model evaluation, validation, performance monitoring, and documentation.
  • Explore and contribute to AI/ML and Generative AI use cases where applicable.

Skills required:

  • 0–5 years of relevant experience in Data Science, Data Analytics, Machine Learning, or a related field.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Strong fundamentals in data cleaning, data processing, and exploratory data analysis.
  • Basic understanding of statistical modelling and machine learning algorithms.
  • Hands-on proficiency in Python for data analysis and model development.
  • Good analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
