Role Description This full-time remote role is for a Data Engineering Contractor specializing in Starburst and Trino. The contractor will design, implement, and optimize data pipelines and query engines using Starburst and Trino, ensuring efficient data access across distributed data sources. Day-to-day responsibilities include integrating data from multiple systems, building and maintaining data models, tuning query performance, and collaborating with analytics and business teams to support reporting and dashboards. The role also involves monitoring data platform health, troubleshooting data issues, and implementing best practices for data governance, security, and reliability. The contractor is expected to document technical solutions clearly and work independently while aligning with project timelines and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong Data Analytics and Data Analysis skills to support reporting, dashboards, and insight generation.
• Candidates should possess solid Data Management and Data Modeling skills for structuring, organizing, and maintaining reliable data assets.
• Candidates should possess excellent Analytical Skills to diagnose data issues, optimize queries, and solve complex data engineering challenges.
• Hands-on experience with Starburst and/or Trino, including query optimization and connector configuration, is highly beneficial.
• Experience with SQL, distributed data systems, and cloud platforms (such as AWS, Azure, or GCP) is preferred.
• Familiarity with ETL/ELT tools, data warehousing concepts, and data governance practices is advantageous.
• Ability to work effectively in a remote environment, communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders, and manage multiple tasks independently.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
