Head of Strategic Research & Business Analyses

Brainware University seeks an analytical and resourceful professional to lead a team of bright young AI researchers to work on problems relating to admissions, placements, HR, cost control, programme performance and institutional growth.

The role

You will translate management concerns into clearly formulated problems, identify the questions that matter, investigate available evidence and recommend practical solutions.

The work will rely primarily on secondary research, supplemented by available university data discussions with relevant colleagues and market research.

Information will sometimes be incomplete. You must be able to make reasonable assumptions, explain their basis and assess how they affect your conclusions.

Key responsibilities

  • Structure problems into specific questions, research tasks and measurable outcomes.
  • Research comparable institutions, industry practices, market trends and relevant benchmarks.
  • Develop realistic estimates and financial or operational models using clearly stated assumptions.
  • Assess alternative solutions in terms of cost, feasibility, likely benefit and implementation requirements.
  • Present concise recommendations explaining what should be done, why, by whom and how results should be measured.
  • Refine recommendations as new evidence becomes available.

What we are looking for

  • Strong analytical ability, intellectual curiosity and practical judgement.
  • Ability to distinguish reliable evidence from unsupported claims.
  • Confidence working with numbers, spreadsheets and incomplete information.
  • Clear, concise writing and the ability to explain complex findings simply.
  • Ability to work independently and question assumptions constructively.
  • Responsible use of AI research tools, including verification of sources and calculations.

Candidates may come from consulting, business analysis, economics, finance, operations, market research or related backgrounds. Experience in higher education would be preferred. Demonstrated problem-solving ability will carry more weight than a particular degree or designation.

The expected output is a workable recommendation supported by evidence, transparent assumptions and an implementation plan.

Selection process

Shortlisted candidates will complete a brief practical case exercise and discuss their reasoning, assumptions and recommendations.
