Job Description:
We are seeking a data-driven, strategic Credit Risk Analyst for risk policy formulation and portfolio health management for our small-ticket personal loan business. In this role, you will be responsible for end-to-end credit risk strategies—balancing prudent risk controls with scalable, sustainable growth. You will design underwriting policies, build early-warning monitoring systems, and take proactive measures to keep delinquencies in check while identifying growth opportunities.
Roles and responsibilities:
1. Credit Policy Formulation & Optimization
- Design, implement, and periodically review robust credit policies and underwriting rules for small-ticket personal loans (STPL).
- Leverage traditional and non-traditional data (bureau scores, bank statements, device data, alternative metrics) to refine risk segmentation and approval grids.
- Conduct regular policy diagnostic tests to identify bottlenecks, improve approval rates, and maintain risk guardrails.2. Portfolio Monitoring & Preemptive Action
- Build and maintain early warning systems (EWS) to track portfolio performance across vintage curves, roll rates, bounce rates, and delinquency buckets (DPD).
- Perform granular portfolio analysis by sourcing channel, geography, customer segment, ticket size, and partner channels.
- Identify emerging credit degradation trends early and execute preemptive policy interventions (e.g., tightening limits, revising eligibility criteria, modifying verification checks).3. Sustainable & Profitable Growth
- Collaborate with Product, Growth, and Data Science teams to identify under-penetrated, high-performing borrower segments.
- Optimize risk-adjusted pricing frameworks to ensure healthy margins across risk tiers.
- Design A/B policy tests to evaluate new underwriting strategies safely before full-scale rollout.
Required Experience:
3-5 yrs experience in similar domain - credit risk in unsecured lending, preferably in fintech/digital lenders
Proficiency in SQL and Python for large-dataset analysis.
Hands-on experience with BI tools (like Tableau).
In-depth understanding of credit bureau data.
Basic knowledge in data science preferred, although not mandatory
Education:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Engineering, Finance, or a related quantitative field.
What we need in the ideal candidate:
- Fintech/Digital NBFC Background: 3-5 years in high-volume, high-velocity unsecured personal loans (small-ticket).
- Policy Ownership: Proven track record of designing and refining credit policies using both bureau and alternative data (bank statements, digital footprints).
- Proactive Risk Management: Strong skills in vintage analysis, FPD, and roll rates—someone who spots early warning signs and adjusts policy before losses happen.
- Growth + Risk Balance: Business-minded analyst who knows how to optimize approval rates and risk-adjusted pricing, not just block transactions.
- Tech Stack: Hands-on proficiency in SQL and Python with experience in automated credit decision engines.
