At Aumraa, we're on a mission to build India's next-generation Devotional Super App — a unified faith-tech ecosystem that brings together temples, pujas, spiritual guidance, devotional content, sacred commerce and community, with a vision to become a trusted digital companion for millions of devotees.

As an early-stage startup, we're establishing our in-house technology team and laying the foundation for a scalable digital platform spanning web, mobile applications, commerce, service bookings and integrations.

About the Opportunity

We're looking for an experienced, hands-on Technology Consultant / Fractional CTO / Engineering Leader to work closely with our founder and help us make informed technical decisions as we build Aumraa.

Our immediate priority is to hire Full-Stack Developers, and we need an experienced technology professional who can independently assess candidates, lead technical evaluations and help us build a capable engineering team.

Beyond recruitment, we envision this evolving into a long-term technology advisory relationship, supporting our platform architecture, mobile application development, engineering standards and broader technology initiatives.

This opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys working with early-stage startups, combining hands-on technical expertise with strategic thinking and helping founders translate ambitious product visions into reliable, scalable technology. Engagement Structure

This is not a conventional full-time CTO position OR Co-founder position. We are initially seeking an independent technology consultant for a defined, paid technical hiring engagement.

Key Responsibilities

1. Technical Hiring & Candidate Evaluation — Immediate Priority

Review and refine technical job descriptions, skill requirements and evaluation criteria for Senior and Junior Full-Stack Developer positions.
Design and conduct structured technical interviews covering Java, Spring Boot, React, JavaScript/TypeScript, databases and API development.
Evaluate candidates on coding proficiency, debugging, problem-solving, system design, security fundamentals and real-world development experience.
Develop practical technical assessments appropriate to each experience level.
Assess candidates' ability to independently develop, maintain and deploy production-ready applications.
Provide structured candidate scorecards, comparative assessments and clear hiring recommendations.
Advise on engineering team structure, role ownership and technical competency expectations.

2. Technology Architecture & Strategic Advisory — Longer-Term Scope

Review Aumraa's existing technology stack and recommend improvements where necessary.
Advise on backend architecture, frontend architecture, database design, API standards and third-party integrations.
Evaluate and recommend the appropriate mobile application framework, including React Native versus Flutter.
Guide architectural decisions involving scalability, performance, security, maintainability and cost efficiency.
Recommend infrastructure, cloud deployment, CI/CD, monitoring and development practices suited to an early-stage technology company.
Help establish a practical technical roadmap aligned with Aumraa's product development priorities.
Identify architectural risks, technical debt and potential implementation bottlenecks before they become costly.

3. Engineering Guidance & Development Oversight — Ongoing Advisory Scope

Provide periodic technical guidance and mentorship to Aumraa's in-house engineering team.
Review critical code, architecture decisions and implementation approaches.
Help establish coding standards, code review practices, testing expectations and documentation guidelines.
Advise on technical task breakdown, development estimates and engineering milestones.
Review development progress and help resolve complex technical challenges.
Support technical evaluations of external vendors, integrations and technology partners when required.
Act as a trusted technology advisor to the founder on important engineering decisions.

Technical Expertise Required

Strong hands-on expertise in:
Backend: Java, Spring Boot, Spring Security, RESTful APIs, authentication and authorisation.
Frontend: React.js, JavaScript (ES6+), TypeScript and modern frontend architecture.
Databases: Relational database design, SQL, data modelling and performance optimisation.
Architecture: System design, modular architecture, API integration, scalability and secure application development.
Engineering Practices: Git, testing, code reviews, CI/CD and production deployment.
Security: Application security, secure coding principles, access controls and data protection.

Additional experience that would be valuable:

React Native and/or Flutter mobile application development.
AWS, Azure, GCP or equivalent cloud infrastructure.
Shopify, e-commerce integrations and third-party commerce platforms.
Payment gateways, booking systems, notifications and service-oriented platform integrations.
Experience designing or scaling consumer-facing web and mobile products.Expertise in our core Java/Spring Boot and React stack is essential. Direct experience with every additional technology is not mandatory.

Who We're Looking For

An experienced professional who:
Has preferably 8+ years of software engineering experience, including substantial hands-on development and architecture responsibilities.
Has worked as a CTO, Fractional CTO, Engineering Manager, Technical Lead, Solution Architect, Principal Engineer or Senior Full-Stack Engineer.
Has personally built, shipped or scaled production-grade digital products.
Can evaluate both junior and senior engineering candidates with confidence.
Has experience mentoring developers and establishing practical engineering standards.
Understands the challenges, resource constraints and decision-making needs of an early-stage startup.
Can communicate complex technical decisions clearly to a non-technical founder.
Takes a pragmatic, business-oriented approach rather than recommending unnecessarily complex technology solutions.
Is comfortable working independently and providing objective technical recommendations.
Experience advising startups or building engineering teams from the ground up will be a strong advantage.

Clear technical evaluation criteria for the two Full-Stack Developer positions.
Well-structured interviews and practical assessments.
Objective, documented candidate evaluations.
Confident hiring recommendations supported by technical evidence.
Clear expectations for each developer's responsibilities and capabilities.

As the relationship develops:

A well-defined, scalable technology architecture.
Informed decisions about our mobile framework and supporting infrastructure.
Improved engineering quality and technical accountability.
A capable in-house development team supported by consistent technical guidance.

Based on mutual fit, availability and business requirements, the engagement may subsequently expand into a longer-term, fractional technology advisory relationship.
