About the Role

We are looking for an accounting enthusiast with a strong understanding of Indian accounting practices and a genuine interest in technology and software products.

This is not a traditional accounting, taxation or auditing role. You will be actively involved in building and improving Refrens' accounting product.

Working closely with product managers and engineering teams, you will use your accounting knowledge to understand business requirements, identify gaps in existing workflows and translate real-world accounting challenges into practical software solutions.

The ideal candidate should be equally comfortable understanding accounting concepts, researching regulatory changes and thinking about how technology can simplify accounting for businesses.

What You Will Do:

Product Development: Work closely with product managers and developers to build, enhance and improve Refrens' accounting features.
Accounting Expertise: Apply your understanding of journal entries, ledgers, trial balance, financial statements, bank reconciliation, bookkeeping and other accounting processes to product development.
Indian Accounting & Compliance: Research and stay updated with Indian accounting practices, GST, TDS, income tax, accounting standards and the latest regulatory changes.
Product Research: Understand how businesses, accountants and finance professionals manage their accounting operations and identify opportunities to simplify their workflows.
Requirement Analysis: Convert accounting concepts and business requirements into clear product requirements, feature documentation and use cases.
Testing & Validation: Test product features, verify accounting calculations and identify logical or functional errors to ensure accuracy.
Problem Solving: Identify gaps in existing accounting processes and suggest technology-driven solutions to improve accuracy, efficiency and user experience.

What We Are Looking For:

Must have cleared CA Foundation or have pursued CA studies but discontinued along the way.
Strong command over accounting concepts, terminology and practical accounting processes.
Thorough understanding of Indian accounting practices, GST, TDS, income tax and relevant regulatory requirements.
Previous work experience in an accounting, finance or related role is mandatory. Experience in an IT, SaaS or technology company will be a strong advantage.
Good understanding of technology and a genuine interest in software products and product development.
Ability to understand complex accounting requirements and translate them into logical solutions.
Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
A curious mindset with the willingness to research, learn and stay updated with changing accounting practices and regulations.
