Job Description: Senior Backend Engineer – HPC Portal

Experience: 4–8 Years

Location: Remote (Australian-hours overlap)

Mandatory Skills

  • Linux Administration, Bash Scripting, Python or Ruby
  • Apache/NGINX, Reverse Proxy, TLS, SSH, systemd
  • LDAP/Active Directory and SSO (SAML/OIDC/OpenID)
  • Strong expertise in at least one: Ruby on Rails or Slurm/HPC Scheduler
  • Linux Networking and SELinux basics
  • Prometheus/Grafana Monitoring
  • Git and Configuration ManagementGood-to-Have Skills
  • Open OnDemand (OOD), JupyterHub
  • Phusion Passenger, ERB, Bundler
  • Slurm Accounting, slurmdbd, Job Scheduling
  • Shibboleth, NFS/Lustre/GPFS
  • Apptainer/Singularity, Lmod, Ansible
  • XDMoD, VNC, GPU ProvisioningKey Responsibilities
  • Lead Open OnDemand portal architecture, installation, and configuration.
  • Integrate authentication, SSO, identity mapping, and storage.
  • Configure Slurm clusters, job scheduling, and remote application access.
  • Implement reverse proxies, TLS, firewall rules, and monitoring dashboards.
  • Troubleshoot infrastructure issues and maintain comprehensive runbooks.
  • Lead technical client discussions, training, upgrades, and deployment planning.Education

BE/BTech/MCA in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
