Mainframe Developer / Tech Lead (COBOL, JCL, DB2)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Developer / Tech Lead with strong expertise in COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, and Native Stored Procedures. The ideal candidate will be responsible for end-to-end delivery, including requirement analysis, design, development, testing, and production support within an Agile environment.

This role requires both technical hands-on experience and leadership capabilities to guide development activities, ensure code quality, and support critical business applications.

Key Responsibilities

Analyze business requirements and participate in requirement gathering discussions.
Design, develop, enhance, and maintain Mainframe applications.
Develop and support programs using COBOL, JCL, DB2, and VSAM.
Create and maintain DB2 Native Stored Procedures.
Perform coding, unit testing, integration testing, and defect resolution.
Support production releases and resolve application issues.
Conduct impact analysis and provide effort estimations.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment.
Review code and ensure adherence to development standards and best practices.
Mentor junior team members and provide technical guidance.

Required Skills

✅ 5-9 years of experience in Mainframe Development

✅ Strong expertise in COBOL, JCL, DB2, and VSAM

✅ Experience with DB2 Native Stored Procedures

✅ Strong understanding of SDLC and Agile methodologies

✅ Hands-on experience in coding, testing, and production support

✅ Ability to perform requirement analysis and impact assessment

✅ Strong debugging and problem-solving skills

✅ Experience in handling critical production incidents
