Founding Head — Utilities Field Product

Build, roll out and grow OriginBluy's new field platform for gas utilities, from the first site to the next client.

About OriginBluyOriginBluy is building a new product: a field work platform that connects a city gas company's contractors, customer care and customers in one live job record. Contractors update each job on WhatsApp with photo proof. The status flows into the utility's SAP, and customers hear what is happening before they have to ask.

Our first deployment is a 90-day pilot with a leading Gujarat gas utility that completes about 38,500 new connections a quarter. You will be the person who makes that pilot work on the ground, and the template for every city we expand to after it.

The roleYou own the success of a new product, end to end. First, you make our pilot with a leading Gujarat gas utility a clear success. Then you take that proof to other utilities and lead the sale. In the morning you may be on a site with a plumbing crew; in the afternoon, presenting results to an MD or pitching a new client.

This is a product-building role as much as an execution role. The platform is new, and contractors and their crews are the people who use it every day. You will help build it with them: what you observe and hear in the field decides what we build next.

You are the face of the product to contractors, to our first client's leadership and to every new utility we pursue. Contractors should trust you because you understand their work; senior leaders should trust you because you bring facts, not excuses. You report to the Founder and CEO and work as a partner in building the business.

What you will doWith contractors and crews

  • Settle disputes between contractors, customers and the utility using the job evidence.

  • Run a short daily review of the at-risk job list with the utility's area owner, and chase each delay until it is resolved.
  • Work with care and service centre heads so their teams use the live job status in SAP.
  • Present pilot progress to the MD and senior leadership: what moved, what is stuck, what you need from them.Building the product with OriginBluy

  • Report what breaks in the field within days, with evidence.

  • Shape proposals, pricing and pilot terms with the Founder.
  • Lead new pilots and convert them into long-term contracts.
  • Keep the first client a strong, willing reference.

Who you are

  • Mandatory: real, hands-on ground experience. 8–12 years doing field work yourself in city gas distribution, a utility, or an EPC or pipeline contractor, as a site engineer, site manager or operations manager. You have stood on sites, managed crews and contractors, and know how a PNG connection is built, from survey to gas-on. Desk-only or consulting backgrounds will not be considered.
  • Deep relationships across PSUs, government and utilities. You have strong, active links with decision-makers in gas, power and other utility companies, PSUs and the government departments that oversee them, and you know how they evaluate, approve and buy.
  • Commercial instinct. You have sold to, or won business from, utilities, PSUs or large industrial clients, or you are clearly ready to. You can open a door, run a meeting and follow through to a decision.
  • Equally at home on a site and in a boardroom. You can win over a plumbing supervisor, and you can present calmly and crisply to an MD.
  • Fluent in Gujarati and Hindi, with clear spoken and written English for leadership meetings and proposals.
  • A natural trainer and explainer. You can take a non-technical crew through a new app and get them using it the same day.
  • A sharp observer. You notice how work really gets done, and you can describe it clearly enough for a product team to act on.
  • Firm and fair with contractors. You hold people to commitments without breaking the relationship.
  • Comfortable with data. You live in dashboards and Excel, and you act on what the numbers show.
  • A builder. You want to create something new, are comfortable with ambiguity, and own outcomes rather than tasks.
  • Graduate engineer (mechanical, civil, chemical or petroleum preferred), or equivalent field experience.Good to have
  • Experience at a Gujarat city gas company, or with contractors who work for one.
  • Experience with PSU and government procurement: tenders, empanelment and approval processes.
  • Exposure to SAP in a utility (service orders, contractor billing or customer service).
  • Experience rolling out a field app or digital process to a distributed, non-office workforce.
  • Experience in a startup, or in a new-business role inside a larger company.
  • A network of contractors, plumbers and site supervisors in Gujarat.Location, pay and how to apply
  • Base: Ahmedabad or Gandhinagar.
  • Travel: frequent day trips to pilot sites and service centres in Gujarat (for example Surat and Bharuch), plus travel to other states for client meetings.
  • Ownership: [ESOPs or equity, to be discussed].
  • Growth: as the product scales, you build and lead the field and client team across utilities. To apply, send your CV to Vivek.slaria@originbluy.com with a short note on one field rollout you led and one client you helped win: what was stuck, what you did, and what changed.
