Product Analyst - Learning Platform

A sixty-person ed-tech company selling to schools and colleges, with a teacher app and an online assessment product

Location: Remote (India)

Where the product stands

The company sells two products to schools and colleges: a teacher app for lesson planning and attendance, and an assessment tool that students use for practice tests and internal exams. Around four hundred institutions use one or both. Product decisions so far have leaned on what large customers asked for in sales calls, and the founders want to balance that with what usage data actually shows. The company has partnered with Flexiple to hire its first dedicated Product Analyst.

You will sit with the two product managers and report to the head of product. Event tracking exists but is patchy, and dashboards were built in a hurry, so part of the early work is making the numbers trustworthy before anyone draws conclusions from them.

Questions you will be answering

  • Which teachers activate in their first two weeks, which ones drop off, and what separates the two groups
  • Where students abandon a practice test, and whether it is content, device or network related
  • How usage changes around exam season and term breaks, and what that means for renewals
  • Whether the new onboarding flow or the WhatsApp reminders are moving weekly active usage
  • Which features predict that an institution will renew, upgrade or churnDay-to-day analytics work
  • Write SQL against the product database and the event warehouse, and keep a small set of core metrics reliable
  • Fix and extend the tracking plan with engineers so new features are measurable on day one
  • Build funnel, cohort and retention views in the BI tool the team already uses
  • Design simple A/B tests and before-after comparisons, and explain the limits of each honestly
  • Write short, readable notes for the product and sales teams, not just chartsBackground that helps
  • 1 to 4 years in product analytics, business analytics or a data role in a consumer or SaaS product
  • Strong SQL and comfort with spreadsheets; some Python or R is welcome
  • Working knowledge of funnels, cohorts and basic experiment design
  • Clear writing in English, and the patience to explain numbers to non-technical colleaguesExtra credit
  • Experience with product analytics tools and event schemas
  • Any exposure to education, schools or B2B products with long sales cyclesHow we will get to know you

A screening call, a take-home SQL and funnel exercise using a sample dataset, a discussion with the head of product, and a final chat about how you like to work.
