About The Role
CrowdStrike is seeking a Senior Software Developer, Observability, to strengthen and advance the observability and tracing capabilities used by our engineering teams. In this hands-on role, you will design and deliver reliable infrastructure services that support application performance monitoring, error tracking, and distributed tracing at scale. You will work with open-source technologies and help engineering teams move toward a full DevOps model.
You will collaborate with colleagues across distributed teams, contribute to technical design decisions, and help build platforms that support business-critical services. The role includes participation in a 24/7 on-call rotation, typically monthly or every other month.
Qualifications
You bring at least eight years of industry experience and a strong background in software development and observability. You have practical experience with error tracking and distributed tracing technologies such as Sentry, OpenTelemetry, Jaeger, or comparable solutions. Experience building Kubernetes operators with Go, Python, or Bash is valuable, as is familiarity with large-scale Linux environments and cloud platforms such as AWS or Google Cloud Platform.
You understand quality and resilience practices, including test-driven development, continuous integration and delivery, and chaos engineering. You have used AI technologies to improve decision-making, streamline workflows, increase efficiency, or achieve business outcomes. Strong written and verbal communication skills will help you work effectively with both local and remote teammates. We also value sound judgment, independence, a willingness to seek input when needed, and an interest in open-source contributions. Experience with on-call operations and knowledge of SRE, DevOps, or GitOps practices are beneficial.
Responsibilities
Architect, build, test, and operate a large-scale observability platform that delivers comprehensive application performance monitoring and distributed tracing. Design and implement end-to-end tracing across a microservices architecture, and develop, test, and deliver Kubernetes operators that support dependable infrastructure services. Help ensure the platform is reliable, well-tested, and capable of supporting the needs of CrowdStrike engineering teams.
Review design proposals from peers and contribute thoughtful feedback. Participate in planning, capacity discussions, retrospectives, and collaborative design sessions. Share ideas and lessons through demonstrations, including lunch-and-learn sessions for proofs of concept and proposed architectures. Contribute to the team’s on-call rotation and help maintain service reliability while communicating clearly and supporting a healthy, flexible way of working.
