Senior Commercial Analyst

Yum! Brands
Gurugram, Haryana, India

About The Role

The Senior Commercial Analyst is the bridge between analysis and decision-making. You will independently lead major NRM modules, synthesize multiple sources of evidence into a coherent answer, and work directly with market and brand stakeholders to shape practical commercial recommendations.

This role is designed for experienced industry hires and ex-consultants who want to combine consulting-style problem solving with direct ownership of Revenue Growth Management decisions. Strong candidates may come from strategy consulting, RGM/pricing, commercial finance, consumer insights, revenue analytics, category strategy or other growth-oriented roles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead one or more analytical / strategy modules within global NRM engagements across strategic pricing, value architecture, menu optimization, consumer strategy, channel economics, promotions and unit economics.
  • Structure ambiguous commercial problems into hypotheses, issue trees, analytical workplans and clear decision questions; guide analysts and specialists on the work required to answer them.
  • Synthesize transaction data, consumer research, competitor intelligence, cost and P&L information, market context and revenue science outputs into a single commercial point of view.
  • Develop strategic pricing and revenue recommendations using evidence from realized price, price ladders, elasticity, market basket, willingness-to-pay research, competitive price indices, margin and traffic risk.
  • Shape menu and value architecture across ALC, Everyday Value, Disruptive Value, Good-Better-Best tiers, group sizes, dayparts and channels; identify gaps, cannibalization, trade-up and premiumization opportunities.
  • Quantify opportunity size and business impact, connecting recommendations to transactions, SSSG/SSTG, AUV, revenue, COS%, contribution margin, unit economics and EBITDA through scenario and sensitivity analysis.
  • Lead stakeholder interviews, working sessions and workshops with Marketing, Finance, Operations, Digital, Insights and market leadership; build alignment around the answer and the actions required.
  • Own executive-ready storylines, presentations and recommendation pages, ensuring every analysis connects to a clear "so what", "now what" and financial ambition.
  • Partner closely with the Data & Revenue Science pod to frame model requirements, challenge outputs and ensure analytical results are commercially interpretable and actionable.
  • Coach Commercial Analysts, raise the quality bar on analyses and slides, and build reusable NRM frameworks, playbooks and thought leadership.

Capability Ownership

Senior Commercial Analysts are expected to build distinctive depth in a Primary NRM capability while developing a Secondary capability. Examples include Strategic Pricing, Consumer & Value, Menu / Merchandising, Commercial Finance, Channel / Digital, or Operations / Unit Economics.

What Success Looks Like

  • You can independently own a module, not just the analyses - you know what question matters, what evidence is needed and what decision should follow.
  • You connect multiple analyses into one commercial answer and can defend the recommendation with senior stakeholders.
  • You combine analytical rigor with practical judgment, recognizing when the model needs to be balanced with consumer, operational or franchisee realities.
  • You make junior team members better through clear direction, feedback and high standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA / PGDM / PGP or other relevant postgraduate qualification preferred.
  • Typically 5-8+ years of relevant experience in strategy consulting, Revenue Growth Management, strategic pricing, commercial strategy, finance, consumer insights, analytics or related growth roles.
  • Strong structured problem-solving and quantitative skills, with demonstrated ability to work with large commercial datasets and build scenario-based recommendations.
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills; strong data visualization and executive storytelling capability.
  • Experience managing senior stakeholders and leading workshops or cross-functional working sessions.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with confidence operating in global and multicultural environments
