Technical Lead Manager

About the Role

ThoughtSpot is seeking a Tech Lead Manager to build and scale its product-led growth (PLG) engineering initiatives across free trials, AI-powered onboarding, developer-focused offerings, and self-serve customer experiences. This role combines technical leadership, people management, and strategic execution to drive product adoption, improve user activation, reduce time-to-value, and increase conversion. You will partner closely with product, marketing, and go-to-market teams to deliver scalable, reliable, and personalized experiences that accelerate growth.

What You’ll Do

• Lead and grow the engineering team: Hire, mentor, and develop engineers while fostering a culture of ownership, collaboration, quality, and continuous learning.
• Drive PLG engineering initiatives: Own the technical roadmap and execution for free trial experiences, AI-powered onboarding, developer offerings, and self-serve customer licenses.
• Integrate AI into product experiences: Build LLM-powered onboarding and personalization capabilities, making architectural decisions around prompt engineering, model selection, cost optimization, latency, and reliability.
• Collaborate cross-functionally: Partner with Product, Product Marketing, Marketing, and Go-to-Market teams to align priorities, communicate trade-offs, and influence product strategy.
• Drive experimentation and growth: Build experimentation capabilities and optimize product-qualified leads (PQLs), activation, conversion, retention, and engagement through continuous iteration.
• Ensure operational excellence: Maintain the reliability of trial provisioning, data accuracy, monitoring, and incident response across the PLG platform.
• Shape long-term technical strategy: Balance near-term delivery with platform scalability, technical debt reduction, and infrastructure investments to support future growth.

What You’ll Bring

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 1 year of engineering team management experience.
• Strong technical proficiency in Java or TypeScript.
• Proven experience building product-led growth (PLG) or self-serve products, with a deep understanding of activation metrics, onboarding friction, conversion, and retention.
• Full-stack technical expertise across frontend, backend, data pipelines, and integrations.
• Hands-on experience shipping AI/ML features in production, including LLM integrations, prompt engineering, model APIs, and cost-latency-reliability trade-offs.
• Experience building experimentation infrastructure and improving engineering velocity through iterative development.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration, stakeholder management, and communication skills, with the ability to influence product decisions and articulate technical trade-offs.
• A track record of delivering high-quality software on time while balancing speed, scalability, and reliability.
• Comfort working in ambiguous, fast-paced environments with a resourceful and iterative approach.
• Bonus: Experience building developer-facing products or platforms, working at high-growth SaaS or analytics companies, using product analytics tools such as Mixpanel or Amplitude, or scaling systems to millions of users.
