Position Overview

Our Client looking for an experienced Head of Technology & Product to lead its technology strategy, product development, software engineering, and technical operations.

The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in PHP, Laravel, Node.js, and modern JavaScript frameworks, along with experience building and scaling technology products in the travel industry.

This role requires a hands-on technology leader who can manage engineering teams, drive product innovation, modernise existing platforms, and ensure the development of scalable, secure, and high-performance applications. The candidate will work closely with business leadership to translate business requirements into technology solutions and product roadmaps.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technology & Architecture

Define and execute the company's technology strategy and architecture roadmap.

Lead application development, system architecture, and modernisation of legacy platforms.

Oversee backend development using PHP, Laravel, and Node.js.

Design scalable APIs, system integrations, database architecture, and high-performance applications.

Manage AWS infrastructure, cloud security, monitoring, backups, scalability, and cost optimisation.

Oversee search technologies, data processing, and platform performance.

  • Product Development & Delivery

Own product roadmaps, feature prioritisation, and technical delivery.

Translate business requirements into product specifications and technical plans.

Manage Agile development, sprint planning, release cycles, and resource allocation.

Ensure timely delivery of product features, enhancements, and platform upgrades.

Work with business stakeholders to align product development with commercial objectives.

  • Engineering & Team Leadership

Lead and mentor software engineering, QA, and technical teams.

Establish coding standards, architecture guidelines, documentation, and code review practices.

Drive CI/CD, DevOps, automated testing, and production monitoring.

Manage technical recruitment, team performance, and engineering capacity.

Build a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.

  • Security, Operations & Innovation

Ensure application security, data protection, disaster recovery, and system reliability.

Oversee incident management and production support.

Identify opportunities to implement AI, AI agents, and automation.

Manage technology vendors, external development partners, and technical budgets.

Evaluate emerging technologies and introduce solutions that improve operational efficiency.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 12+ years of experience in software engineering and technology development, with demonstrated leadership experience.
  • Strong hands-on expertise in PHP and Laravel.
  • Strong experience with Node.js and modern JavaScript technologies.
  • Experience building, managing, or scaling technology products in the travel, tourism, hospitality, or online travel industry.
  • Strong understanding of software architecture, system design, REST APIs, microservices, and third-party integrations.
  • Experience modernising legacy applications and managing business-critical platforms.
  • Practical experience with AWS cloud infrastructure, security, monitoring, and cost optimisation.
  • Experience with MySQL or other relational databases, Elasticsearch or similar search technologies, and large-scale data processing.
  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, DevOps, and automated testing.
  • Experience managing product roadmaps, engineering teams, technical delivery, and vendor relationships.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity, data protection, and disaster recovery.
  • Strong leadership, communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.

Good-to-Have Skills

  • Experience implementing AI solutions, AI agents, and workflow automation.
  • Knowledge of Next.js, headless CMS platforms, technical SEO, analytics, and business intelligence.
  • Experience building SaaS platforms or customer-facing digital products.
  • Exposure to travel booking engines, GDS integrations, flight/hotel APIs, reservation systems, or travel management platforms.
  • Experience working with international clients and distributed teams.

Ideal Candidate Profile

We are looking for a strategic yet hands-on technology leader who understands both product and engineering. The candidate should be capable of taking ownership of the complete technology function, leading teams, making architecture decisions, and ensuring that technology investments contribute directly to business growth.

Travel industry experience, strong PHP/Laravel and Node.js expertise, and proven technology leadership are key selection criteria.
