Role: Senior Software Engineer – Backend & GenAI

Interview Mode: In-Person (Face-to-Face) Interview at the HSR Layout Office, Bengaluru.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, test and maintain scalable backend applications using Python, Django and FastAPI.
Identify opportunities to use AI to improve the product, developer productivity and business processes.
Contribute to building GenAI features such as LLM integrations, RAG and agentic workflows, learning and applying new AI patterns as the product evolves.
Use AI coding assistants effectively in daily development, while owning the quality, correctness and security of the final code.
Translate functional specs and the product roadmap into software design documents, and keep them updated.
Follow the SDLC across design, development, testing and maintenance, and deliver releases on time.
Write modular, clean and well-tested code that is robust, readable and maintainable.
Lead design and code reviews, and mentor junior developers.
Support CI/CD automation and deployments on AWS.
Handle customer escalations and production issues promptly.
Skills and Experience

Mandatory Skills

5–7 years of software development experience, including 4+ years of hands-on Python.
Strong experience building production-grade RESTful APIs with Django, Django REST Framework and FastAPI.
Practical use of AI-assisted development tools (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code or similar), with the judgement to review, test and correct AI-generated code.
Understanding of GenAI and LLM concepts, limitations and trade-offs, including hallucination, context limits, token cost, latency and prompt injection.
Solid SQL skills (PostgreSQL/MySQL), with working knowledge of NoSQL.
Strong fundamentals in OOP, design patterns, DSA and authentication/authorization.
Solid understanding of system design and scalability concepts: caching, async processing, queues, database optimisation and API performance.
Hands-on experience with AWS, Docker, CI/CD pipelines and Linux.
Proficiency with Git and collaborative workflows (branching, pull requests, code reviews).
Experience writing unit and integration tests.
Strong problem-solving and communication skills, and the ability to learn new technologies quickly.
Good to have
Hands-on experience building GenAI features: LLM API integration (OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, Gemini or AWS Bedrock), prompt engineering, RAG, embeddings and vector databases, a production GenAI deployment is a strong plus.
Experience building agentic workflows: tool/function calling, multi-step task orchestration, memory and error handling.
Familiarity with LLM frameworks such as LangChain or LangGraph, and with Model Context Protocol (MCP).
