About the Role

We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Technical Lead (Application Development) to design, develop, and deliver secure, scalable, and reliable enterprise software applications supporting digital learning and business operations.

The role requires strong software engineering expertise, hands-on coding and application architecture skills, practical experience with AI-enabled application development, and the ability to provide technical leadership in delivering integrated, data-driven software solutions.

In this role, you will be enabling online education for thousands of students enrolled in various online degree programs at Amrita Online. You will get the opportunity for application design, development, and maintenance for digital learning software and, in the process, learn various aspects of online education and software systems used for it. You will have the opportunity to see your contributions immediately being used and will get to see feedback from users i.e. students and faculty.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and lead the implementation of secure, scalable, and maintainable enterprise software applications.
• Define application architectures, undertake hands-on coding of critical components, and resolve complex technical challenges.
• Develop backend services, user interfaces, databases, and APIs, ensuring seamless integration with enterprise systems and external services.
• Build data-driven applications, dashboards, analytics, and workflow automation solutions.
• Design, develop, and integrate AI-enabled capabilities into enterprise applications to address business and operational requirements.
• Ensure software quality through code reviews, testing, CI/CD, performance optimisation, and production troubleshooting.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to developers, review technical solutions, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure effective project delivery.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 8+ years of relevant software development experience, with strong hands-on coding skills and demonstrated experience in application architecture and technical leadership.
• Strong proficiency in at least one modern backend technology stack, such as Python, Java, C#/.NET, or Node.js.
• Practical experience with frontend technologies, including JavaScript/TypeScript and modern web frameworks.
• Strong knowledge of SQL, relational database design, API development, and application integration.
• Experience developing enterprise, data-driven, or workflow-based applications.
• Practical experience developing or integrating AI-enabled applications using LLM APIs, AI services, or related technologies.
• Sound understanding of software architecture, application security, performance, testing, and modern development practices.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and technical coordination skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with enterprise platforms, SaaS products, or large-scale digital applications.
• Experience with RAG, semantic search, AI evaluation, machine learning, or advanced data analytics.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms, containerization, and modern deployment practices.
