Data Architect – Microsoft Fabric (US Healthcare)

True Blue HR Consultants
Bengaluru, Karnataka, India

Designation: Data Architect – Microsoft Fabric (US Healthcare)

Experience: 8 to 10 Years

Location: Bangalore

Budget: 38 LPA

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Data Architect/Engineer to help lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of cloud data platforms for US healthcare clients. You will own the architecture from ingestion through the Gold layer, feeding Power BI semantic models and making the data ready for Power BI Dashboards, Data Agents and AI-driven workflows.

You will work closely with our existing solution leaders and architects to oversee and guide our data engineers, BI developers, analysts and business stakeholders, and will communicate technical trade-offs clearly. This is a team lead role that requires demonstrable experience of leading/managing technical teams of varying levels of experience.

Key Responsibilities

Architecture and Data Modelling

  • Design data models including star/constellation/ snowflake schemas, and choose the right approach for each subject area based on performance, maintainability and reporting needs.
  • Design scalable, medallion-layered (Bronze / Silver / Gold) platforms on Microsoft Fabric using

OneLake, Lakehouse and Warehouse.

  • Translate business requirements into robust, well-documented data models, conformed dimensions and fact grains.

Data Engineering and Transformation

  • Review and guide ingestion and transformation built with Fabric Pipelines / Azure Data Factory, T-SQL and PySpark notebooks.
  • Implement transformation logic to meet business objectives and regulatory requirements, with

schema mapping, reconciliation and data validation to preserve data integrity and security.

  • Write and review production-grade SQL for incremental loads, slowly changing dimensions (Type 1 / Type 2), data quality checks and source-to-target reconciliation, and set SQL coding standards and code-review practices for the team.
  • Design Power BI semantic models (DAX, RLS, certified datasets) that serve dashboards and Fabric Data Agents, using Direct Lake / Import / Direct Query over Gold-layer Delta tables where appropriate.

Performance, Compliance and Documentation

  • Analyze performance and optimize across SQL, Spark and Fabric capacity (indexing, partitioning, Delta table design, capacity cost).
  • Enforce HIPAA / HITECH controls: PHI minimization, row-level security, auditing and de-identification patterns, aligned with SOC 2 and ISO 27001 practices.
  • Maintain documentation of architecture, lineage, data models and data dictionaries.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field (Master's

preferred).

  • 8+ years in data architecture / database design, with 2+ years on a modern cloud data platform (Microsoft Fabric, Synapse or Databricks).
  • Expert-level SQL / T-SQL (complex query design, query optimization, stored procedures) plus advanced knowledge of Python / PySpark.
  • Deep command of advanced SQL constructs: window functions, CTEs (including recursive), PIVOT / UNPIVOT, MERGE, set-based logic and dynamic SQL, applied to large, complex healthcare datasets such as claims, encounters and eligibility.
  • Proven SQL performance tuning: reading and optimizing execution plans, indexing strategy (clustered, non-clustered, columnstore), statistics, partitioning, and diagnosing blocking, deadlocks and long running queries.
  • Hands-on SQL across the Microsoft stack, including Fabric Warehouse, the Lakehouse SQL analytics endpoint and Spark SQL, with a clear understanding of T-SQL surface-area differences between platforms.
  • Strong dimensional modelling expertise: Kimball methodology, star and snowflake schemas, slowly changing dimensions, and ELT design on Azure.
  • Experience with Azure SQL Database, SQL Server and Azure Data Factory, and with data migration

methodologies.

  • Strong Power BI semantic modelling skills (DAX, RLS, Direct Lake, performance tuning).
  • Experience with Git.
  • US healthcare data experience under HIPAA, on either the hospital side or the payer side.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to

explain complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Strong leadership and team-player attitude.

Good to Have

  • Hands-on exposure to Data Agents (Fabric Data Agents, Copilot or similar NL-to-SQL tools) and AI integration (Azure OpenAI, Claude, MCP or agent-based workflows).
  • Data governance tooling such as Microsoft Purview.
  • Power Automate / Power Apps and React front-end exposure.
  • HL7 / FHIR experience.
  • Master's degree in a relevant field.

Additional Skills

  • Passion for the business of hospital transformation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Good team player
