Backend Engineer (Java)

Pallav Technologies
Gurugram, Haryana, India

Nine million calls a day. Profitable. Built lean.

2–4 years

  • Gurgaon, on-site ([Sector 51])
  • Cash CTC + ESOPs worth 50% of CTC

That’s Pallav Technologies. Our platform runs a telecalling operation handling 9M+ calls a day for 20+ lenders. We’re profitable, we move fast, and a small, high-ownership engineering team built all of it.

Now we’re building the financial suite on top of it — Collections, Lending and a licensed bank — and we want engineers who’ll build it from the ground up. You’ll take a business problem, design the solution and ship it end to end, with AI as your co-pilot at every step.

What you’ll build

  • Core lending and collections systems: loan origination and management, repayment and settlement ledgers, collections workflows and dialer integration, bureau and partner APIs, reconciliation and audit trails. Correctness, auditability and security are non-negotiable.
  • Systems handling millions of events a day, where a slow query or a dropped event is a business problem, not a bug ticket.
  • Data-heavy backends: schema design, efficient queries and PostgreSQL tuning for large, fast-growing datasets.

How we work

  • You pick up the business requirement directly, not a pre-chewed spec.
  • You use AI (Claude, Cursor, Copilot) to draft the design doc and the UX, then build with AI-assisted development.
  • You own it from idea to production and keep improving it after it ships.
  • Stack: Java, Spring Boot, Hibernate, PostgreSQL on AWS.AI makes us fast; fundamentals keep us safe. You need to move quickly with AI and know when the generated code is wrong, insecure or won’t scale.

What we’re looking for

  • 2–4 years of backend development experience.
  • Strong command of at least one backend language. Java is a big plus; if you’re excellent in another language and want to work in Java, apply anyway.
  • Exceptional problem-solving with strong DSA fundamentals. This is the single thing we weight most, and our interviews reflect it.
  • System design at both levels: clean LLD (object modelling, design patterns, extensible code) and HLD (scalable, fault-tolerant distributed systems).
  • Good SQL and relational database skills, ideally PostgreSQL.
  • Familiarity with AWS (EC2, RDS, S3, Lambda, SQS).
  • Security by default: you think about auth, data protection and failure cases without being asked.
  • Daily, hands-on use of AI coding tools.

Nice to have

  • Startup experience: multiple hats, features owned end to end.
  • Spring Boot and Hibernate/JPA in production.
  • Fintech, lending, collections, banking or other high-volume transactional systems.
  • Caching, queues or event-driven architecture.

Is this for you?

This is a high-intensity environment. We’re constantly pushing into problems we haven’t solved before, and the pace reflects that. If you want to settle in and coast, this isn’t it. If you want to grow faster than you would anywhere else, it is.

What you get

  • Real ownership from day one: a flat team, direct access to the founders, no waiting for tickets.
  • A platform at serious scale, where your work goes live quickly and the impact is visible.
  • Recognition and rewards based on what you deliver, not how long you’ve been here.
  • ESOPs worth 50% of your annual CTC, over and above cash.

How we hire

Resume screen → 30-minute call → live DSA round → system design (LLD + HLD) → founder round. We typically close the loop in under two weeks.

To apply

Put links to your GitHub and Codeforces / LeetCode / CodeChef profiles in your resume, and give numbers for anything you’ve built at scale. We prioritise applications with verifiable evidence.
