Role summary

Forward Deployed Engineers (FDEs) are the Field Innovation team for DataNimbus's Payments business. They spend their time on-site with customers in Mumbai and alongside our implementation teams. They understand the customer's view, find gaps in how FinHub is used, and close them - by building new solutions, fixing what blocks adoption, and helping Customer Success keep accounts healthy and growing.

Roles & Responsibilities

Be the customer's voice

  • Spend time with client users and implementation teams to understand how FinHub is used day to day, and where it falls short.
  • Capture gaps in the product, the implementation and the client's own processes, and bring them back with evidence and a proposed fix.
  • Help Customer Success read account health: adoption, friction points, risks and early warning signs.

Strengthen implementations and customer success

  • Work alongside delivery owners and technical leads on live projects to unblock tricky integrations and edge cases.
  • Step in on technical escalations with the implementation team, and turn the fix into something reusable.
  • Support account reviews with insights, demos and improvement proposals.
  • Spot expansion opportunities from what you see on the ground and shape them with the Customer Success and Sales teams.

Discover

  • Work alongside client business, operations and IT teams to understand how money moves and where it breaks.
  • Turn vague asks into clear problem statements, success criteria and a scoped pilot.

Build

  • Build working prototypes on FinHub and around it: integrations with core banking, payment rails, host-to-host and API banking, escrow and virtual accounts.
  • Write production-quality code (APIs, integrations, data pipelines, dashboards) that can be hardened.
  • Use AI where it helps the client: reconciliation, exception handling, document processing, insights.

Prove and hand over

  • Run pilots in the client's environment and measure results against the agreed success criteria.
  • Present results and demos to client stakeholders up to CXO level, with Sales and Customer Success.
  • Hand pilots to the Delivery/Competency team with clean code, documentation and a rollout plan.

Make the product better

  • Turn what you build for one client into reusable accelerators and FinHub features.
  • Bring client feedback and recurring gaps to Engineering and the product roadmap.

Experience and skills

Must have

  • 5–10 years building software, with at least 2 years in client-facing/product engineering roles.
  • Strong coding in at least one of Java, Go, Node.js / TypeScript or Python, plus SQL and a NoSQL store such as MongoDB.
  • Built and integrated REST APIs, message queues and event-driven systems.
  • Comfortable on cloud and container platforms (AWS, Azure or GCP; Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Can explain technical trade-offs clearly to non-technical client stakeholders.
  • Domain knowledge of banking / payments /transaction banking / liquidity / cash / escrow.
  • Ability to travel and work on-site for 5-days during client engagements.

Good to have

  • Indian payments domain: NEFT, RTGS, IMPS, UPI, escrow, virtual accounts, cash management or corporate API banking.
  • Experience with core banking integrations (e.g. Finacle, Flexcube) or host-to-host file formats.
  • Hands-on use of LLMs or ML in a working product.
  • Awareness of RBI rules for payment aggregators, escrow and data localisation.

Soft Skills

  • Bias to action: ships something useful in days, not months.
  • Enjoys being on the client floor and is credible in the room.
  • Owns outcomes end to end and is comfortable with ambiguity.
  • Writes things down so others can pick up the work.

Educational Qualification

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
