At Ideagen, we're building the shared platforms that power a global portfolio of products. We're looking for a Lead Software Engineer to lead the technical direction of our API Gateway, a critical piece of infrastructure that connects and enables teams across the business.

As the technical lead for the API Gateway team, you will shape the architecture, reliability, security, and performance of a platform relied upon by multiple product teams. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll drive engineering excellence while continuing to code, review solutions, and mentor engineers.

Responsibilities

Define and drive the technical direction of the API Gateway platform.
Design and build scalable, secure, and highly available gateway services using Node.js.
Lead technical design reviews and provide architectural guidance for complex initiatives.
Partner with product and engineering teams to understand integration requirements and enable self-service adoption.
Coach engineers on software craftsmanship, technical decision-making, and AI-assisted development practices.
Champion observability, security, performance, and operational excellence across the platform.
Own delivery commitments, identify risks early, and ensure predictable execution against the roadmap.
Drive best practices across CI/CD, Git workflows, automation, and infrastructure reliability.

Skills And Experience

Strong hands-on experience with Node.js and API or gateway architecture.
Deep understanding of API security, authentication, authorization, networking, and traffic management.
Experience with modern cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines, and Git-based development workflows.
Proven ability to lead technical direction while remaining actively involved in coding and code reviews.
Strong mentoring, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
Passion for building reliable shared infrastructure that delivers exceptional developer and customer experiences.
