The Applications Development Senior Programmer Analyst is an intermediate level position responsible for participation in the establishment and implementation of new or revised application systems and programs in coordination with the Technology team. The overall objective of this role is to contribute to applications systems analysis and programming activities.

Responsibilities

Systems Analysis & Development

  • System Design & Implementation: Utilize knowledge of applications development procedures, design patterns, and programming languages to define system enhancements, author technical design specifications, and implement robust solutions.
  • Code & Architecture Analysis: Analyze, interpret, and maintain codebases; leverage scripting tools and automated workflows to streamline development and deployments.
  • High-Availability Architecture: Contribute to the design and development of high-availability, fault-tolerant, and low-latency systems.
  • API & Service Development: Design, build, and integrate RESTful JSON APIs and microservices.

Quality, Security & Support

  • Testing & Quality Assurance: Apply Test-Driven Development (TDD) methodologies and automated testing frameworks (e.g., Karma) for unit testing, capacity testing, and failure testing.
  • Security & Vulnerability Management: Analyze applications to identify vulnerabilities and security issues; conduct comprehensive debugging and remediation.
  • Production Support: Provide 3rd-line support to investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues.

Collaboration & Leadership

  • Mentorship & Guidance: Serve as an advisor/coach to junior developers and lower-level analysts; lead junior team members on technical aspects of deliverables.
  • Stakeholder Consultation: Consult with users, clients, product managers, and peer technology teams on technical issues and recommend practical programming solutions.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to senior stakeholders and project team members.
  • Autonomous Execution: Operate effectively with limited direct supervision, exercising sound technical judgment, problem-solving, and autonomy.

Risk & Compliance

  • Risk Assessment & Controls: Assess risk when making technical and business decisions, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding client assets.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to internal policies and procedures, comply with applicable laws, rules, and regulations, apply sound ethical judgment, and proactively escalate and report control issues with full transparency.

Technical Experience

Qualifications & Skill Requirements

  • Total Experience: 6–8 years of professional software development experience in web applications and backend systems.
  • Frontend Development: Strong expertise in React.js, HTML5, and modern JavaScript / ES6+.Strong hands-on experience with state management libraries (Redux or equivalent). Experience with Node.js development.
  • Backend & Systems: Solid working knowledge of backend technologies (Java, Spring Boot). Experience working with relational databases (Oracle) and writing optimized SQL/queries.
  • API & Architecture Design: Proven track record designing and consuming RESTful JSON APIsApis. Strong hands-on experience in solution design, UML, data structures, and software design patterns.
  • Testing & Automation: Hands-on experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD) and test automation runners (e.g., Karma, Jest, JUnit).
  • Version Control & CI/CD: Experience with source code management tools such as Git and Bitbucket.

Professional & Interpersonal Skills

  • Proven track record delivering on medium-to-large scale, complex projects.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and technical writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance while collaborating effectively in cross-functional teams.

Education

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree / University degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
