Shopify Developer – D2C E-commerce
The Role
You’ll own the brand’s D2C storefront end to end: theme, build, speed and checkout. The website is the brand’s highest-intent channel, so this is a hands-on build role, not a maintenance one. You’ll work with design, marketing and operations to ship new pages, launch product lines and keep the store fast through campaign and festive traffic.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, customise and maintain the Shopify theme in Liquid, HTML, CSS and JavaScript, turning design files into pixel-accurate, responsive pages
- Develop landing pages, product and collection templates, and campaign pages with fast turnaround
- Build reusable sections and blocks so marketing can update pages without a developer
- Manage storefront product data: variants, metafields, bundles and gifting flows
- Improve site speed and Core Web Vitals through image optimisation, script management and app clean-up
- Optimise the cart-to-checkout journey, including upsells, offer logic, discount rules, and payment and COD flows
- Run A/B tests across PDP, cart and checkout, and make winning variants permanent
- Implement and maintain tracking across GA4, GTM, Meta and Google Ads, with clean event data across the funnel
- Integrate third-party apps and backend systems (reviews, loyalty, subscriptions, WMS, ERP, shipping and returns) using Shopify APIs and webhooks
- Manage on-site SEO: site structure, schema markup, redirects and canonical tags
- Keep the store ready for sales and launches, and quickly fix live storefront and checkout issues
What We’re Looking For
- 1–3 years of hands-on Shopify development experience, preferably at a consumer or D2C brand
- Strong command of Liquid, HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript, with direct work in theme code rather than only page builders
- Experience building custom themes and sections from design files on Shopify 2.0
- Working knowledge of the Shopify Admin and Storefront APIs, webhooks and app integrations
- Proven improvement of site speed, Core Web Vitals and conversion rate on a live store
- Familiarity with GA4, GTM, Meta Pixel and conversion event setup
- A strong eye for design detail and the ability to ship fast in a small team
Good to Have
- Shopify Plus, Shopify Functions or checkout extensions
- Headless storefront experience (Hydrogen, Next.js) or React front-end work
- Experience running subscription, loyalty or referral programmes on Shopify
