About the Role

Talemexa is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to design, develop, and deliver systems used by thousands of recruiters and candidates. The ideal candidate will bring strong software engineering fundamentals, excellent system design skills, and practical experience building scalable applications in cloud environments.

In this role, you will contribute to architectural decisions, design services and APIs, improve system reliability, and help maintain production applications. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, lead technical discussions, and mentor junior engineers while promoting effective engineering practices.

We are looking for someone who combines hands-on technical expertise with a strong sense of ownership, sound judgment, and a commitment to building high-quality software.

Key Responsibilities

• Design Software Systems: Architect and develop scalable services, APIs, and data models that support Talemexa's products and evolving business requirements.
• Develop Reliable Applications: Write clean, maintainable, efficient, and secure code using Java, Python, Node.js, or other suitable programming languages.
• Build Microservices: Design and maintain modular services that support scalability, flexibility, and efficient communication between application components.
• Improve System Reliability: Identify weaknesses, resolve recurring issues, and implement improvements that strengthen application stability and availability.
• Enhance Observability: Use logging, metrics, monitoring, and tracing practices to improve visibility into application behavior and simplify troubleshooting.
• Work with Cloud Platforms: Develop, deploy, and maintain cloud-based applications using platforms such as AWS or Microsoft Azure.
• Implement CI/CD Practices: Support automated build, testing, and deployment pipelines to improve release consistency and delivery efficiency.
• Maintain Automated Tests: Develop unit, integration, and other automated tests to ensure software quality and reduce the risk of production defects.
• Own Production Systems: Participate in production support, investigate incidents, identify root causes, and implement long-term solutions.
• Mentor Junior Engineers: Provide technical guidance, review code, share knowledge, and help junior team members strengthen their engineering skills.
• Lead Technical Discussions: Contribute to design reviews, architecture discussions, code reviews, and technical planning sessions.
• Collaborate Across Teams: Work with product managers, designers, QA engineers, and other stakeholders to translate requirements into effective technical solutions.
• Promote Engineering Excellence: Encourage best practices in system design, security, documentation, testing, and maintainable software development.Qualifications and Experience
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
• 4–8 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language, such as Java, Python, or Node.js.
• Strong understanding of system design, data structures, algorithms, and software architecture.
• Practical experience designing and developing APIs, backend services, and scalable applications.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Microsoft Azure.
• Familiarity with microservices architecture and distributed systems concepts.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing practices.
• Understanding of application monitoring, observability, troubleshooting, and production support.
• Experience with code reviews, technical documentation, and collaborative development workflows.
• Strong communication, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
