Role Overview:

UST is looking for a highly skilled Python Tech Lead with strong experience in backend development, FastAPI, microservices, and API-driven applications.

The candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, enhancing, and maintaining scalable backend services and Backend-for-Frontend (BFF) layers. The role requires strong technical expertise in Python, API development, solution design, testing, debugging, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain backend services using Python 3.10 and FastAPI.
  • Design and implement scalable, secure, and high-performance RESTful APIs.
  • Build and maintain Backend-for-Frontend (BFF) layers for seamless frontend integration.
  • Collaborate with product managers, QA teams, and developers to deliver product enhancements.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues across APIs, databases, logs, deployments, and frontend interactions.
  • Perform root-cause analysis, issue triaging, and continuous product improvement.
  • Create and execute unit, integration, and API tests.
  • Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and technical design activities.
  • Support CI/CD processes, containerization, and deployment activities.
  • Contribute to engineering best practices, process improvements, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.

Required Skills:

  • Strong expertise in Python 3.x, preferably Python 3.10.
  • Hands-on experience with FastAPI and Uvicorn.
  • REST API design and development.
  • Backend-for-Frontend (BFF) architecture.
  • Microservices architecture and distributed systems.
  • Backend integration testing.
  • Unit testing and integration testing.
  • Dependency injection and asynchronous programming.
  • API validation and error handling.
  • Service-to-service communication.
  • Git and Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Strong debugging and troubleshooting capabilities.

Desired Skills:

  • Angular 17.
  • Kubernetes and Docker.
  • CI/CD pipelines.
  • Authentication and session management.
  • Token-based security.
  • Release management and deployment troubleshooting.
  • SBOM generation.
  • Product support and incident management.
  • Scientific or laboratory workflow applications.
  • Cloud-native application development.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of professional software development experience.
  • Strong hands-on experience in Python backend development.
  • Experience developing and maintaining FastAPI-based applications.
  • Demonstrated experience in backend application development and API engineering.
  • Experience with end-to-end solution design and architecture.
  • Ability to work independently with strong ownership and accountability.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Educational Qualification: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
