Node JS Java Backend Engineer

What You Will Do ● Design, build, and maintain backend-leaning full stack features for core customer help domains. ● Develop and operate backend services and APIs using Node.js/TypeScript and Java (Spring/Spring Boot). ● Build service-to-service integrations and workflows that connect to eBay’s internal systems and data platforms. ● Partner with product and design to translate requirements into technical designs and execution plans. ● Ensure services are scalable, reliable, and observable through strong testing, monitoring, and operational practices. ● Build secure and compliant solutions with attention to privacy, auditability, and data protection. ● Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and on-call rotations to maintain engineering quality and velocity. ● Break down features into well-scoped tasks, proactively identify risks or blockers, and deliver work on time. Required Skills ● 5–8 years of software development experience (or MS + 5) with strong computer science fundamentals and distributed systems experience. ● Strong backend engineering experience building services and APIs with Node.js/TypeScript and Java (Spring / Spring Boot). ● Solid understanding of microservices architecture, API design, and service-to-service integrations. ● Experience with data modeling and persistence using SQL and/or NoSQL systems. ● Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Git workflows, Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud-native development. ● Strong focus on code quality, maintainability, and operating production systems reliably. ● Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional partners in ambiguous or evolving problem spaces.
