Full Stack Engineer

CITYFURNISH
Gurugram, Haryana, India

About CityfurnishCityfurnish is a Y Combinator-backed furniture and appliance rental company. Since 2015 we have helped students, families and corporate customers furnish their homes on flexible monthly subscriptions instead of buying outright. We operate across 7 Indian cities from our headquarters in Gurgaon.

Behind every rental is a lot of technology: the website and app where subscribers browse and check out, payments and auto-debit, KYC, delivery and pickup scheduling, warehouse inventory, and the service request flows that keep thousands of subscriptions running every month.

About the roleWe're looking for a hands-on Full Stack Developer who can own features end to end as an individual contributor: scoping, design, build, testing, deployment and support after release. You'll work across the customer-facing website and the internal tools our operations, customer support and accounts teams use every day, partnering closely with our Tech Lead on architecture and priorities. This is not a people-management role. You'll work directly with product and operations, so what you ship reaches real subscribers and real teams within days, not quarters.

We're an AI-forward team. We expect you to use AI coding tools to move faster, and to bring the engineering judgement to review, test and stand behind everything you ship.

What you'll work onCustomer-facing platform

  • Build and improve the Cityfurnish website using Next.js, React and TypeScript, covering product listing, cart, checkout and the subscriber account area
  • Own page speed, SEO and Core Web Vitals on a site where traffic turns directly into rentals
  • Build APIs that serve both the website and the mobile app

Payments and integrations

  • Build and maintain payment flows with Razorpay, including checkout, recurring auto-debit and webhook handling
  • Integrate with third-party systems such as Zoho Desk (service requests), WhatsApp and SMS notification providers, and our Odoo ERP through its APIs (orders, subscriptions, invoices and customer data)
  • Make integrations reliable: retries, idempotent webhook handling, logging and alerts when something fails

Internal tools

  • Build tools for inventory, warehouse operations, delivery and pickup tracking, and service request handling
  • Turn manual processes in operations, customer support and accounts into simple, reliable workflows

Engineering quality

  • Design REST APIs and MySQL/PostgreSQL schemas that hold up as volumes grow
  • Write tests, review code and keep the codebase easy for the next developer to work in
  • Deploy and monitor services on Azure with CI/CD pipelines

AI in your work and in the product

  • Use AI coding tools (Claude, Cursor, GitHub Copilot and similar) for prototyping, debugging, testing and documentation
  • Spot and build AI features that add real business value, such as smarter search, support chatbots or workflow automation

Your first 90 days1. First 30 days: learn the codebase, the subscription and order lifecycle, and how teams use our systems. Ship your first fixes to production.

2. By 60 days: own a complete feature on the website or an internal tool, from scoping with the business team to release.

3. By 90 days: be the go-to person for at least one area, such as checkout and payments, an operations tool or an integration, and propose one improvement backed by data.

What you'll needCore engineering

  • 3–5 years of hands-on full-stack web development, with features you built running in production
  • Strong React and Next.js, including server-side rendering, static generation and SEO basics
  • TypeScript and modern JavaScript (ES6+)
  • Node.js with Express.js for building REST APIs
  • MySQL or PostgreSQL: schema design, indexing and query optimisation
  • HTML5, CSS3 and Tailwind CSS, with an eye for responsive, usable UI
  • Experience integrating third-party APIs and webhooks; payment gateways (Razorpay, PayU, Stripe or similar) are a strong plus
  • Security basics: authentication (JWT, OAuth), handling sensitive customer and payment data, and common web vulnerabilities (OWASP Top 10)
  • Testing: unit and end-to-end tests with Jest, Playwright, Cypress or similar
  • Git and GitHub workflows, code reviews and CI/CD
  • Experience deploying and running apps on a cloud platform; Azure preferred

AI-assisted development

  • Daily, hands-on use of AI coding assistants in your workflow
  • The judgement to review, test and debug AI-generated code rather than accept it as written
  • Familiarity with calling LLM APIs (Anthropic, OpenAI or similar) from a web application

How you work

  • You own your work end to end with minimal hand-holding: you take a feature from vague business problem to shipped, monitored solution, asking the right questions along the way
  • You explain technical trade-offs clearly to non-technical teams

Good to have• Experience integrating with Odoo or another ERP through its APIs (XML-RPC/JSON-RPC or REST), including keeping data in sync between systems

  • Experience in e-commerce, subscription, rental, logistics or inventory businesses
  • Recurring payments or auto-debit mandates (UPI Autopay, eNACH)
  • WhatsApp Business API or other messaging integrations
  • Event-driven systems, queues or background job processing
  • Analytics and monitoring tools such as Mixpanel, Google Analytics, Metabase, Sentry or Grafana
  • Building with RAG, vector databases or agent workflows
  • Mobile app backends or React Native

Why join Cityfurnish• Real scale, real users: your code handles live orders, payments and deliveries across 7 cities, not a demo

  • Breadth: work across the customer website, payments, integrations and operations tools instead of one narrow corner of the stack
  • Short path to impact: sit with the teams who use what you build, and see the result in days
  • AI-forward team: modern AI tools are part of how we work, and you'll help bring AI features into the product
  • Proven business: YC-backed and running since 2015, with the room of a growing startup to shape how things are built
