As a Software Development Engineer on our AB 3P Tech team, you'll work with a highly technical, entrepreneurial team building distributed systems that power the B2B selling experience. You'll drive end-to-end development from design to delivery, make strategic technology decisions, and mentor junior engineering talent. Your team will own critical systems spanning from Seller Central to Amazon Business detail pages, cart, and checkout for merchant-fulfilled offers.

Key job responsibilities
You'll architect and build scalable solutions using Web Services, APIs, and Micro-Services architecture. Working within our entrepreneurial team, you'll drive development of high-performance systems, implementing industry-leading design patterns and coding practices.
Your role combines technical leadership with hands-on development. You'll mentor junior engineers while partnering with stakeholders to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions. Strong communication skills are essential as you'll lead technical discussions and influence architectural decisions.
You'll contribute to innovation through emerging technologies and business challenges. You'll own software engineering practices throughout the development lifecycle - from coding standards and reviews to build processes and operations, while helping establish engineering excellence.
A day in the life
You will start your day reviewing operational metrics and addressing any alerts before diving into feature development or system improvements. Expect to participate in design discussions, write and review code, and pair with teammates to solve tricky problems. You will regularly engage with product managers and stakeholders to refine priorities and ensure your work aligns with customer needs. Whether you are refactoring a critical service or documenting architecture decisions, your contributions will have a direct and visible impact.
Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 3+ years of Video Games Industry (supporting title Development, Release, or Live Ops) experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
