SRE/DevOps Engineer
Position Overview
The Platform Reliability Engineering Group manages mission-critical Gateway, CDN, and Security services (including API gateways, CDNs, and external proxy infrastructure) that power services across our entire enterprise ecosystem. We are scaling our global infrastructure and reliability capabilities, and we are looking for a hands-on, senior engineer to join our multicultural team. In this role, you will help build and operate high-quality, large-scale systems under a tremendous amount of traffic, ensuring strict adherence to enterprise SLAs.
As a Senior SRE/DevOps Engineer, you will design, build, and operate the infrastructure, tooling, and automation powering our platform. You will own the reliability, observability, and overall operational health of the production services you support.
Core Responsibilities
- Automation & Configuration: Develop, maintain, and optimize Ansible and Chef playbooks to ensure consistent, secure, and reliable server configurations across multi-environment fleets.
- CI/CD & Pipeline Engineering: Design, implement, and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines; collaborate with software engineering teams to smoothly integrate automated testing, deployment, and monitoring.
- Container Orchestration: Build, deploy, and manage containerized applications using Docker, and design/manage secure, scalable Kubernetes clusters.
- Traffic & Server Management: Administer high-availability production Linux/Unix servers, including Squid proxy servers for caching, filtering, and network traffic optimization.
- Observability & Incident Response: Monitor server health, participate in on-call rotations, respond to live production incidents, and drive blameless post-mortems to ensure permanent root-cause fixes.
- Reliability Engineering: Own SLO/SLA targets and error budgets, improve platform resilience, introduce chaos engineering practices, and partner with software architects to promote shared operational ownership.
- Leadership & Mentorship: Mentor junior engineers, document platform architectures, and evangelize infrastructure best practices across the organization.
Qualifications
Mandatory Requirements
- Experience: 7+ years of dedicated, hands-on experience in SRE, platform engineering, or DevOps roles managing large-scale platforms (API gateways, service meshes, or internal developer platforms).
- Configuration Management: Proven experience with Ansible for environment automation and infrastructure-as-code.
- CI/CD Tools: Deep, hands-on experience with modern CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, CircleCI, or similar).
- Operating Systems: Strong foundational knowledge of Linux/Unix systems with an established track record of managing bare-metal or cloud production servers.
- Containers & Orchestration: Practical proficiency with Docker for containerization and Kubernetes for production cluster orchestration.
- Proxy Management: Direct experience configuring, tuning, and managing Squid proxy servers.
- Observability: Strong familiarity with industry-standard monitoring and logging ecosystems (e.g., ELK stack, Prometheus, Grafana).
- Foundational Skills: Solid, production-tested understanding of core networking, system security protocol, and advanced infrastructure troubleshooting.
Highly Desired Attributes
- Traffic & Security: Hands-on experience managing heavy CDN traffic and implementing edge security strategies.
- Alternative Configuration Tools: Practical experience using Chef or similar configuration management tools alongside Ansible.
- SRE Frameworks: Comprehensive understanding of reliability concepts, including SLOs, error budgets, incident management response structures, and chaos engineering tools.
- Scripting & Development: Fluent scripting capabilities in Python, Go, Bash, or similar languages to build custom automation tools.
- Cloud Architecture: Familiarity operating within major cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) or managing hybrid/on-premise cloud infrastructure.
