Our client is looking for a smart, ambitious Senior Full-Stack Engineer with deeper back-end experience to set technical strategy, drive the tech vision for the business, and stay hands-on every day.

Our client operates in the fast-growing resale fashion market. Resale is growing 5x faster than new fashion (+22% year on year). Yet secondhand shopping still takes 3x longer, and over 60% of people don’t bother because of the effort and risk involved.

Our client’s view is that the world doesn’t need another place to shop secondhand. It needs a better way to shop secondhand. The business has existed in a previous form, has learned from that experience, and is now ready to scale.

The company already has users and generates revenue. It is backed by government innovation grant funding, is raising further investment, and has taken part in a leading global technology accelerator programme. The team is award-winning and is supported by advisors who have held senior product, AI and personalisation leadership roles at major global technology companies.

About The Role

You’ll own the technology direction of the business while building across the full stack. The role combines technical strategy, hands-on engineering, data and AI development, and team leadership. The platform is very data-heavy, working with large volumes of customer and inventory data every day.

This role will suit someone who is commercial, loves data, knows when to build and when to buy, and wants to help build a profitable, valuable business through to a successful exit.

Responsibilities – What you’ll be doing:

Technical Strategy & Leadership

  • Setting the technical strategy and driving the tech vision for the business.
  • Making pragmatic decisions about when to use existing software and when to build in-house.
  • Prioritising engineering work based on commercial and customer impact.
  • Hiring, managing and growing the engineering team as the company scales.

Engineering & Data

  • Building and shipping features across the stack using JavaScript, Node.js, React and Next.js.
  • Designing and scaling data infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform, including BigQuery and Firestore, to handle very large volumes of data.
  • Building production-ready, scalable styling AI agents that analyse customer and product data and recommend the right styles to each customer.
  • Developing and improving the recommendation and matching engine using proprietary customer and inventory data.

Communication & Customer Focus

  • Communicating technical decisions clearly to non-technical partners, investors and a cross-functional team.
  • Championing great B2C customer experiences in everything the team builds.

Requirements – What we’re looking for:

  • 6+ years of full-stack development experience with a strong back-end focus.
  • Strong experience with JavaScript, Node.js, React and Next.js.
  • Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform, particularly BigQuery and Firestore.
  • Proven experience building and deploying production-ready, scalable AI agents, ideally for personalisation or recommendations.
  • A genuine passion for data, with experience building data-heavy systems that process large volumes of data.
  • A commercial and strategic mindset, with the ability to prioritise.
  • Excellent communication skills with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • The ability to work independently and remotely.
  • The ability to manage a team.

Valuable Experience – Nice to Have:

  • Experience building recommendation or matching engines.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and/or Mathematics.
  • An interest in fashion, resale or the circular economy.

Work Schedule

  • Monday to Friday, 01:30 PM IST to 10:30 PM IST (09.30 to 18.30 GMT)
