Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Director – Platform to define and drive the product strategy for critical platform capabilities that enable multiple consumer and business products.

This role will be responsible for building a scalable, reusable, and extensible platform ecosystem that allows multiple product teams to launch experiences faster and operate efficiently at scale.

The ideal candidate should combine strong product strategy, platform thinking, technical depth, and organizational leadership. The person should be comfortable working across Product, Engineering, Architecture, Data, Security, and Business teams.

Key Responsibilities

Platform Strategy & Vision

  • Define the long-term Platform product vision, strategy, and roadmap.
  • Identify foundational capabilities that should be built once and leveraged across multiple products.
  • Translate business and customer needs into scalable platform capabilities.
  • Establish platform principles, product standards, and prioritization frameworks.
  • Balance short-term business requirements with long-term platform scalability.Platform Product Ownership
  • Own platform capabilities such as:
  • APIs and services
  • Shared product capabilities
  • Platform services
  • Integrations
  • Identity and access capabilities
  • Data and event platforms
  • Workflow/orchestration capabilities
  • Developer-facing capabilities
  • Common consumer/business services
  • Drive platform adoption across product and engineering teams.
  • Identify opportunities to consolidate fragmented capabilities into reusable services.
  • Define platform APIs, interfaces, dependencies, and product requirements in partnership with Engineering.Product & Engineering Collaboration
  • Work closely with Engineering and Architecture leadership to translate product requirements into scalable technical solutions.
  • Participate in architectural and technical discussions without becoming the engineering owner.
  • Understand system dependencies, scalability, reliability, latency, and operational requirements.
  • Ensure platform capabilities are designed with future product requirements in mind.Stakeholder Management
  • Partner with senior leaders across Product, Engineering, Architecture, Data, Security, Operations, and Business.
  • Align multiple product teams around shared platform priorities.
  • Manage complex dependencies and competing requirements.
  • Communicate roadmap, trade-offs, risks, and business impact to senior leadership.Metrics & Adoption
  • Define platform success metrics such as:
  • Platform adoption
  • API/service adoption
  • Product-team adoption
  • Time-to-market improvement
  • Reuse of platform capabilities
  • Reliability and performance
  • Cost efficiency
  • Drive continuous improvement based on product and engineering data.Leadership
  • Build, mentor, and develop senior Product Managers.
  • Establish strong product management practices across the platform organization.
  • Create a culture of ownership, experimentation, customer focus, and execution.Must-Have Experience
  • 13+ years of overall Product Management experience.
  • Significant experience owning Platform products.
  • Experience working with large-scale technology/platform ecosystems.
  • Strong understanding of APIs, integrations, distributed systems, platform services, or shared capabilities.
  • Experience partnering closely with Engineering and Architecture leadership.
  • Experience managing multiple product teams or senior Product Managers.
  • Strong experience managing complex cross-functional dependencies.
  • Ability to operate at both strategic and execution levels.Preferred Background

Candidates from large-scale consumer internet, e-commerce, marketplace, fintech, SaaS, digital platforms, or technology companies with significant platform complexity would be relevant.

Ideal Candidate Profile

A product leader who has moved beyond managing an individual product and has experience building foundational capabilities used by multiple products, teams, or business lines.
