About Company
The company is one of India's largest private FM radio networks. It reaches over 40 million listeners weekly across 49 cities, 1,000+ towns, and 50,000 villages.
It is the only private FM station broadcasting from Jammu and Kashmir, with an international presence in Singapore and Bhutan. Its digital platform delivers curated music, news, and lifestyle content beyond traditional radio.
A team of 740 media professionals powers a vibrant, creativity-driven culture rooted in local communities. Engineers work on real-scale problems — high-volume media delivery, content discovery, and personalization — with direct impact on millions of listeners.
Position Overview
This role leads the design and delivery of production-grade backend services powering the company's audio, video, news, short-form content, and microdrama platform. The engineer will own architectural decisions, drive engineering standards, and mentor SDE 1/2 engineers across a distributed, high-traffic media ecosystem. Strong hands-on Go experience with production ownership is a hard requirement for this position.
Role & Responsibilities
- Lead design and implementation of high-scale backend services for audio, video, news, microdrama, content discovery, and personalization.
- Build and own production Go services using REST, gRPC, messaging, caching, and relational/NoSQL databases on cloud infrastructure.
- Own architectural decisions, API contracts, technical trade-offs, and service reliability for complex business domains.
- Develop resilient BFF and API composition layers for web, mobile, partner, and internal clients.
- Drive code reviews, design reviews, testing strategies, engineering standards, and operational readiness across the team.
- Lead incident response, root-cause analysis, and engineering improvements to prevent recurrence.
- Mentor SDE 1 and SDE 2 engineers through pairing, technical guidance, and structured career development.
Must Have Criteria
- 5–8 years of professional backend engineering experience, including distributed systems work.
- Strong hands-on production experience with Go — concurrency, context management, profiling, testing, and service design.
- Experience designing and operating scalable REST and gRPC APIs in production microservices or modular monolith architectures.
- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, caching layers, distributed messaging, and asynchronous workflows.
- Demonstrated ownership of complex projects from technical planning through production deployment and ongoing operations.
- Proven ability to mentor engineers and measurably improve a team's engineering practices.
Nice to Have
- Experience in a product-based company or high-traffic consumer platform (media, entertainment, streaming, news, or short-form video).
- Backend for Frontend (BFF) experience — API aggregation, GraphQL, channel-specific contracts, caching, and authorization.
- Experience with Node.js alongside Go, particularly for migration, integration, or legacy platform modernization.
- Production experience with Kafka or RabbitMQ, Redis, Elasticsearch, Kubernetes, Docker, and major cloud platforms.
- Experience with CDN, media transcoding, metadata, live or on-demand playback ecosystems, recommendation systems, or edge delivery.
What We Offer
- Direct ownership of backend systems serving 40M+ weekly listeners across audio, video, and digital content.
- Opportunity to shape engineering culture, mentor a growing team, and drive adoption of Go and modern API patterns.
- Work on a platform spanning radio, streaming, short-form content, and microdrama — one of India's most diverse media ecosystems.
- Collaborative environment with product managers, architects, frontend, data, and platform teams.
