Role Description This full-time remote Backend Developer role focuses on designing, building, and maintaining robust server-side applications and APIs that power modern editorial web experiences. The developer will collaborate closely with front-end engineers, designers, and content teams to architect scalable solutions using Sanity, Next.js, and complementary backend technologies. Daily responsibilities include implementing data models and integrations, optimizing performance and security, writing clean and testable code, and troubleshooting production issues. The role also involves contributing to technical decisions, improving development workflows with AI-assisted tooling, and documenting systems for maintainability and knowledge sharing.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess strong skills in Back-End Web Development and Software Development.
  • Candidates should possess solid knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and general Programming principles.
  • Candidates should possess familiarity with Front-End Development to collaborate effectively with UI and UX teams.
  • Experience with modern JavaScript/TypeScript stacks, especially Node.js, Next.js, and headless CMS platforms such as Sanity.
  • Knowledge of RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs, databases (SQL or NoSQL), and cloud-based deployment environments.
  • Understanding of performance optimization, security best practices, and testing frameworks for backend services.
  • Ability to work autonomously in a remote setting, communicate clearly, and collaborate in distributed teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience is beneficial.
  • Interest in AI-powered development tools and willingness to experiment with new technologies and workflows.
