Backend Lead - OTA

Job Summary We are looking for an experienced Backend Lead – OTA with 5–6 years of experience to lead the design, development, integration, and delivery of backend services for automotive Over-the-Air (OTA) solutions.

The candidate should have strong hands-on expertise in backend development, microservices, REST APIs, cloud technologies, databases, messaging systems, containerization, security, and CI/CD, along with a good understanding of Automotive OTA/FOTA/SOTA.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of scalable backend services for automotive OTA solutions.
• Develop microservices and REST APIs supporting OTA functionalities.
• Support software package/version management, vehicle/ECU targeting, campaign configuration, deployment monitoring, retry and rollback.
• Develop and manage interfaces between cloud/backend platforms and vehicle-side systems.
• Implement asynchronous/event-driven services using Kafka and/or MQTT.
• Design and optimize SQL/NoSQL databases and backend data models.
• Implement secure APIs using OAuth2, JWT, HTTPS/TLS, and appropriate access-control mechanisms.
• Develop and deploy services using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Collaborate with DevOps teams for CI/CD, monitoring, logging, and deployments.
• Perform technical design reviews and code reviews.
• Troubleshoot backend and integration issues and support root-cause analysis.
• Collaborate with OTA, Cloud, Embedded/ECU, Cybersecurity, DevOps, Frontend, and Validation teams.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to backend developers.

Mandatory Skills

• 5–6 years of backend/software development experience.
• Strong hands-on programming experience in Java/Spring Boot, Node.js, or Python/FastAPI.
• Strong knowledge of Microservices Architecture.
• REST API design and development.
• AWS and/or Azure.
• Docker and Kubernetes.
• Kafka and/or MQTT.
• SQL/NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, DynamoDB, Redis.
• Git and CI/CD.
• Knowledge of OAuth2, JWT, HTTPS/TLS.
• Experience with logging, monitoring, debugging, and performance optimization.

Automotive / OTA KnowledgePreferred:

• Automotive OTA / FOTA / SOTA architecture.
• Connected Vehicle / Telematics systems.
• OTA software package and version management.
• OTA campaign and deployment concepts.
• Vehicle-to-cloud communication.
• Failure handling, retry, recovery, and rollback concepts.
• Exposure to Uptane.
• Awareness of UNECE R156.
• Basic understanding of UDS, DoIP, CAN/CAN FD, and Automotive Ethernet.

Qualification

• BE/B.Tech/ME/M.Tech in Computer Science, IT, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
• 5–6 years of relevant backend/software development experience.
• Automotive, Connected Vehicle, IoT, or OTA domain experience preferred.
