About the Role

We are looking for a skilled Backend Developer who can build, maintain and improve the server-side architecture of our digital products and applications. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience developing scalable backend systems, designing APIs, managing databases and ensuring smooth communication between different application components.

You will work closely with frontend developers, mobile developers, UI/UX designers and other team members to develop reliable solutions that support our business and product requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and maintain backend services, applications and server-side components.
  • Build and integrate RESTful APIs to support web and mobile applications.
  • Develop efficient database structures, queries and data management systems.
  • Work with relational and non-relational databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL and MongoDB.
  • Implement authentication, authorisation and secure data-handling practices.
  • Integrate third-party APIs, payment gateways and external services.
  • Identify and resolve performance issues, bugs and backend system errors.
  • Write clean, reusable, maintainable and well-documented code.
  • Collaborate with frontend and mobile development teams to ensure seamless application integration.
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, debugging and deployment activities.
  • Work with version control systems and deployment environments.

Required Skills and Experience

  • 2–5 years of hands-on experience in backend development.
  • Strong proficiency in at least one backend programming language such as Node.js, Python, Java or PHP.
  • Experience in developing and integrating REST APIs.
  • Good understanding of database management, data modelling and query optimisation.
  • Knowledge of authentication methods, API security and server-side architecture.
  • Familiarity with Git, Docker and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or Google Cloud.
  • Understanding of application performance, scalability and debugging.
  • Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills.
